A timer shouldn't need an instruction manual but this one does
I'm the type of person who likes to pick up things straight from the box and use them and so when I got a digital timer delivered of course I said "nah, don't need to read the instructions"; I was wrong, this thing is less intuitive than *insert Amazon-appropriate metaphor*The scroll wheel has no haptic feedback at all so you'll often find yourself going past the number you wanted and having to apply a grams-worth of pressure for fine adjustments, the action triggered by pressing the scroll wheel in was the exact opposite of what I thought it was (aka it resets the timer, it doesn't start it), and it was an all around nuisance that got used 3 times before I said "no thanks" and went back to the old kitchen timer with the great feeling analog time selector.

It's a great little timer!
This thing is pretty danged solid for not having more than a display and a scroll wheel to operate it! It's a bit of a learning curve figuring out how many times to click the scroll wheel to get the timer to actually start, but adjusting the amount of time is a piece of cake--just scroll up or down like you would on your computer mouse.Absolutely LOVE the magnetic feature--I hang this off of my kitchen cart most of the time and can move it around the house easily for whatever I need, like making sure I rinse out the Drano from the bathtub drain in time. The display is bright and super easy to read. The alarm is loud enough to hear easily from the other room (just make sure you read the directions first and that it's not in silent alarm mode), and it'll turn itself off eventually if you just leave it so you don't need to run to the alarm and start mashing buttons to get it to shut up.Would definitely recommend, would buy as a gift for others. I'm glad to have this.

Digital Timer
It looks good, its light weight (plastic). It has rubber feet and its magnetic so you can stick it to the fridge without worrying about scratching the fridge. The count down timer mode works fine but it's not my favorite interface. I thought the wheel would program minutes and seconds at the same time. Instead you have to spin the wheel for minutes, click, spin for seconds, click, and then one more click to start the count down. Spinning the wheel while its counting down stops the count down and jumps back into programming the time.I couldn't easily get it to switch into stopwatch (count up) mode. The manually says to adjust the time to zero minutes zero second and then click to start counting up. But I couldn't reliably get it to start. It would just do nothing most of the time I click with 00:00 displayed. 1 or the two times I got the count up to start, if you accidently scroll the wheel it resets the display and starts programming a count down and your count up time is lost.I kind of wish the wheel didn't do anything while counting down or up until you click to pause it.The manual has some strange wording which I think must be a translation issue. It uses phases like "minute bits" and "reverse timer". The "reverse timer" is he regular count down cooking timer. Another section says "Fixed method" which I think is just trying to explain that its magnetic.UPDATE: Adding a star because the seller contacted me and explained the count-up mode. You have to long-press the wheel until the timer resets to zero. Then a click will start the count-up. This works now that I know how to do it.

Easy to set, easy to read
Product works great. Love how easy it is to set the timer. Yes, you have to spin the little silver dial but it all moves quick. We've been using it as a timer for the kiddos at the computer and having the large numbers that are easy to just glance at have been great. Definitely on my list for a second purchase should I need a timer.

Easy to use timer for my son's music practice.
This timer works great and gives off a nice, loud beep when time runs out. My son uses it for his music practice; so he is sure to spend enough time on each piece. The face is easy to read in bright or low light. You can set the minutes to up to 99 and set the seconds independently. So for example, you could set the timer to 7 minutes and 13 seconds. You can easily reset the time to "00:00" by holding the single button for 3 seconds or so. Then, you can roll the roller button (kind of like a computer mouse roller) and set the time. One push of the roller button starts the countdown. As I mentioned, you're not likely to miss the beep when time runs out. My son hears it clearly over his piano and violin. You can certainly use this time for more conventional things like cooking, games, etc. It takes 3 AAA batteries. Seems pretty durable.

Has both forward and reverse time settings!
I got this timer mainly for use in the kitchen to make sure I do not forget foods in the oven or on the stove. It has a magnetic back and it can be placed on the fridge or other appliance. The numbers are lighted when in use and visible. It is easy to use following the directions in the user manual. It needs three AAA batteries (not included). There is a button on the back to control the desired volume. Since it has both forward and backward timing functions, I can use the forward timing to count my breaks. I can pause when I resume work, but one issue is that if I pause, the timer automatically goes to standby mode if there is no activity after 30 seconds and I lose the count of the previous break. I was hoping to be able to count and add all the break times of the day, but at least I can time each individual break and add them manually. I would recommend this magnetic timer to a friend.

Screen is Bright, timer works, interface is clunky and not able to fine tune as I would like
This is only an ok timer that's easy enough to figure out. The screen is big, bright, and easy to read. The problem is in the input interface. The wheel increments the minutes in the direction you turn it. Then you push the wheel and hope you don't accidentally scroll it and have to start all over. If you did that correctly, then you scroll to the seconds but they are only in 5 second intervals then, again, press the scroll button hoping it stays. Then you have to press it one more time to start. Not a good interface but an ok timer nonetheless.
