The Accidental Baker: a cake for every crisis Paperback – October 26, 2013

I attended all of Barbara's cooking classes in her beautiful West Vancouver kitchen in the 1970s and '80s and reading The Accidental Baker brought back a lot of happy memories. The recipes Barbara has included in her book are a good representation of each cooking series she taught. I became a better cook and baker because of Barbara's instruction. You really must try her recipes. The Meringue Angel Pie and Death By Chocolate Log are two fantastic desserts that I include in my culinary repertoire. Her antipasto is foolproof and, as she says, well worth the effort! Barbara's Biscotti and Lemon Poppy Seed Pound Cake are delicious with a cup of coffee any day. Her Roast of Beef is a showstopper! The Accidental. Baker: A Cake For E return Crisis is not just a cookbook. It is also the story of a very courageous lady who I am proud to call my friend.

Well written, easy read. Felt author shared very personal info and insights. Was able to relate.Recipes look delicious, haven't tried them yet.

Great life's story from a determined young lady to overcome obstacles and trials into to a successful business. Great story which includes many great recipes (for all levels of baking)! Would have been an added plus to have included a final picture of all of the recipes! Once you start the book, it is difficult to put it down...just gotta know what happens next!

This book showed me it's never to late for life and love. I couldn't put it down. I read at a time that I really needed this message. I had the pleasure of meeting Barbara today at lunch club. What a wonderful woman. Thanks Barbara!

I really enjoyed reading this almost novel ( it really is about her life) What an experience she has , facing many challenges but always managed to survive with dignity. There are many recipes included if you are a baker. Highly recommended especially for women. Alice Mills

Absolutely wonderful! I received the book as a gift. I opened it and glimpsed at the first few pages. An hour later I was still reading and I couldn't put it down. Barbara's determination to overcome life's adversity is truly inspirational - so are the recipes.
