is it noisy when it runs?

Yes there's a hum and it's noticeable. Just got mine today and I'm returning it because the fan is louder than my computers fan.

Will it keep frozen meals frozen? Will frozen meals fit?

Not really, it gets nice and cold. It would keep them very cold but not completely frozen.

can this unit be plugged in all the time or does it have to be periodically unplugged?

I have mine plugged in all the time at work.
