Extremely Helpful
I am a novice that began more than 40 years ago. Currently, I am retired on disability living in a Nursing Home. The craft makes my days short as it produces a beautiful visual output using time, materials, and labor. I love crocheting! I love what I do. This book is instrumental in my refresher self-training. There are patterns to create specifically focusing on the subject-matter written about in each Chapter. The Book does a good job introducing and explaining the basics of Crochet. The only mishap I see to be corrected, and that because I am using Kindle App on my Android device, the book's Illustrations are cropped off on the -b sides thus leaving 50% more or less visible. Maybe someone found a workable and doable solution. I will welcome it, thank you.

Easy to read
This book will show any beginner the crochet stiches that you will need in most crochet projects. Also it will show the correct habits you will need to establish as a beginner.

Didn't have the information I was looking for.
I bought this book mostly for chart type patterns because I have some amazing dress patterns in crochet charts that I would love to make but they're mostly in foreign languages and the description for this book said that it would teach someone chart type crochet so that even patterns in other languages would be possible. All the information in this book was information I had already found, for free, by googling stuff on the web. The designs aren't really anything I'm interested in making, and over all, I wouldn't have purchased this if I'd known how little information about chart type crochet was in there. IF the pattern is in English, sure, this would be plenty of help, but there was no information at all about interpreting charts in other languages other than the universal symbols which I already knew. There was nothing about recognizing repeats or knowing how many repeats are necessary or anything. Hope that helps.

A Good Place To Start
This is an excellent reference book for beginners. There are incredible details and explanations that a beginner would want and need to know when learning to crochet.Don't expect to be blown away by any incredible colored photos, because this book only has a few as it is 98% black and white. There are a few good patterns - but less me stress the word FEW.HOWEVER, everyone should have a copy of this book because it yields very valuable reference information that I have found myself referring back to many times.

Good Introduction
This book is a good introduction to crocheting and it is chock full of many interesting projects. The first few projects are simple enough, however the later projects are a bit more challenging, and I wish the book would have included illustrations of how to make the stitches in the trickier sections, as this would have been very helpful. I am still unable to take on many of the harder projects because of that. However, I still think this book is a worthwhile buy, but I wouldn't recommend that a beginning crocheter rely solely on this book.

Alot of patterns!
Wasn't sure if this would be a waste of money or not. Surprisingly the patterns are easy to follow. The instructions are very clear and the pictures are most helpful. Highly recommend to everyone.

crocheting made easy
Very pleased with the pattern selection and instructions. I was able to make several clothing articles. Most definitely suggest not taking sizes for granted and doing test pieces and measurement to adjust for fit. My only complaint is that for the pieces I made the yarns suggested were outrageously expensive and alternates were not that easy to find.

Terence Speaks ...
This book (like all the 'Dummies' books) is just as useful to the more experienced as to the novice, in starting to crochet. I found it easy to read and the diagramms were clear and helpful when learning new stitches. A straightforward step-by-step instructional guide.

A Book for Dummies
Not well edited the layout was not pleasing, the black and white photos were of very poor quality they seemed out of focus. There is a color section but I personally find it more useful to have the color photos opposite the crochet instructions. The paper used to print on was was little better than newsprint. The general effect was not appealing which meant that I did have any desire to take a closer a closer look at the rest of the book.

Great book.
Great book, fast delivery. It's simple to follow and is one of the main books that got my head around crochet and reading patterns. I would highly recommend buying it.

Well written and illustrated. Easy to follow.
What a fantastic book! I wanted to be able to crochet and had searched a lot online for tutorials. Very often this book came up in my searches. It is beautifully clear and easy to follow. The print is clear and everything is well illustrated. It is very clearly written. So far I have made a scarf and a jumper and I am feeling quite chuffed with myself, thanks to this brilliant book.
