Gilbert Strang is the best Lin. Alg. Teacher
Needed to learn College Linear Algebra for an OMSA course. Didn't like the prerequisite on EdX, so I followed Gilbert Strang's OpenSourceWare video series. I just had to buy the book... excellent videos, excellent book. Better than the course I took in college.

Best
This is apparently a controversial methodology. But don't let anyone tell you it teaches "fake" linear algebra. The gist is this: practical applications over abstract theory. Academics complain all it teaches you is how to manipulate matrices. Manipulating matrices is what gets you a job.

Great book, highly recommended for anyone looking to work with Nth dimensional data
Great book, Strang does well making the concepts understandable even if you aren't super familiar with upper level math. Highly recommend the section on eigenvalues and eigenvectors, great for understanding Single Value Decomposition and Principle Component Analysis.

Excellent text for math majors
Comprehensive college level text for those interested linear algebra. Author is probably the foremost expert in this field with over 60 years of teaching experience at MIT. Following along the course matter with his U Tube lectures is a must!

Borderline Incomprehensible
This book is completely useless without prior knowledge of linear algebra, and even then it's borderline incomprehensible. The image attached I think perfectly encapsulates this: it's literally the first paragraph of the first section of the book, and it's supposed to explain vectors, and yet doesn't define them of justify them, just jumps into an application (that he also doesn't define or justify).Strang spends most of the book rambling incoherently about matrix operations he doesn't introduce until several chapters later while failing to explain or even justify the core concepts he claims to be discussing in each section. I have taken many advanced college-level math classes, including linear algebra, in the past, and this book feels like it is un-teaching me linear algebra; I often spend an hour or two reading through a chapter feeling deeply confused and lost, only to look up the topic on wikipedia and figure it out within minutes.I'm a high school math teacher (who, again, has already learned linear algebra) teaching an advanced math class for seniors, and bought this book to refresh my memory and to us as an established structure for teaching the material. The book has failed to provide any real value on both counts.

fast delivery
The media could not be loaded. Considered a very fast delivery time for intercontinental shipping, it only took 3 days instead of 1 week. Overall, the product is good enough. It was a hardcover book with a dent on the top cover.PS. The book is much thinner than the fifth edition.
