Violin scales bible
This is hard stuff... but that's the bible... :-)Everything is there, that the top classic.I'd probably would go for a soft cover rather than hard, but that's personal preference.

Recommend for any violin student
I had previously learned scales from the ABRSM published books and they were never enforced into my regular lessons or daily practice. I grew to hate them when I needed to learn them for exams, but have found a new respect for incorporating them into my daily practice after a 5 year hiatus. Because I was at a relatively advanced level when I stopped playing, I decided to start off easy this time around and wanted the basic scales with the plan of advancing up after getting used to playing again. The ABRSM don't seem to have all the scales published in one book, and just have books containing the requirements for each grade, meaning I would probably have to purchase more than one. Having all keys in several scale, arpeggio and double-stop variations within one tome is incredibly handy. The separation of each key into different exercises is good for practising different techniques at different levels. I usually start off with the 1st and 5th exercises with simple 1st, 3rd or 5th positionings and then incorporate techniques based on the pieces I'll be playing: 2nd positioning, 1st finger throughout, 4th finger practice, bowing, rhythm, etc. Some of the keys and exercises are written with different fingerings and rhythms compared to the basic slurred scales, giving an example of how they can be used to explore different playing variations. Each exercise is printed with a roman numeral at the start, which I had never seen before and the book didn't explain the meaning but a little research told me that it was to indicate the starting string so I-IV = E-G.Very thorough and good for violin practice. It's a little bulky so needs some folding to stay open on my stand but the print is very clear and easy to read.

Excellent for violin practice
I spend a lot if time playing scales, and this book has really enabled me to make improvements in my playing, as I am a beginner. It contains all major and minor scales, with 5 pages dedicated to each scale up to the 4th octave above middle C, but none above because of the sound being inaudible any higher, this is true for me but may not be true for virtuoso violinists. Also has pages and pages of double stopps! This is my go to book for violin and its well worth every penny!

Aspiring Paganini ?
For anyone who wants to actually become a violin player, as opposed to merely being able to knock a tune out of the violin, I cannot commend this book highly enough.God Bless Carl Flesch.

Good Scale Exercises
A very good book for scale exercises but it doesn’t contain simple concise versions of each scale. It would be nice if it had an index or contents page that makes it easier to find specific scales.
