I have purchased three of these books!!!
I sat next to a gentleman with the game and fish on the plane. I ask him about teaching my grandson outdoor things. He pulled this book out of his backpack. He told me this was a guide for children.I purchased the first book and gave it to my son. He said it was the most important, informative book he has ever owned and will keep it forever. Pass it along to his sons. He said I want to thank you for giving me this book. It is amazing. I don’t often get that response to my gifts. I ordered another one for my daughter. She was sick of her kids playing video games and wanted to get them out of the house and learn something. Again, a win. The next book I am ordering for myself. I briefly perused it but after all of the good things my kids have said I believe I need one.Thank you to the kind gentleman on the plane. You never know who you will meet and what new and exciting things you will learn.

Amazing book for parents!
I absolutely loved this book! It has tons of recommendations for outdoor play and adventures! There are so many creative ideas that I would never think of! Definitely recommend to parents who have a little to no screen time in their homes like we do! Outdoor play is amazing for kids and having a handy guide like this makes it more realistic to plan for and more attainable!

Buy all Steven Rinellas books
I listened to the audio version of Steven’s book about getting kids outdoors and so was super eager to get another children’s book from an avid outdoorsman, Hunter, and father. He really hits the nail on the head with the simple engaging activities to spark outdoor wonder and exploration. Also sparked this mom to buy all his books. 10 out of 10 would recommend for rural and city kids!!

Great for any kid
If your kid shows any interest in the outdoors be it camping or fishing or even hunting this book is great. It explains a lot of stuff and has great instructions a kid can follow. Bought it for my 11 year old daughter and we have lots of plans for this summer now. Steve is a great writer. Recommend 100%

Inspires Kids to Learn Hands on with Nature! Its Worth It.
I love the formatting and illustrations as shown in this picture. Keeps the kids reading and interested. My kids are attracted to the book and want to do the things in it. We have built blow guns out of pvc pipe and paper darts that they can blow into a cardboard box. We live in the desert of Mesa, AZ but found a wash to collect tadpoles, put them in a $20 aquarium from Walmart with aerator and watched them become frogs as we fed them boiled zucchini! We let the frogs and tadpoles go back where we caught them and then caught a couple small bluegill which we kept in the aquarium for a couple days and released.Later we caught a tiny rainbow trout and both my kids went from not being able to touch a fish to being able to touch it and then they ate it and liked it after we cleaned and cooked it!I love being on an adventure with them and then asking "well, what did the book say?" instead of me just telling them what to do. I have seen a difference in my kids love for nature adventures in just one month. Its worth it. Kids age 10 and 8.

Great, quality book!
This book is chocked from cover to cover with great activities for all kinds of kids and parents. Even if you're not a gung-ho hunter-gatherer, it's full of useful skills for anybody to know! For instance, you can't just drop trow and poop behind the biggest bush in sight next to a trail, there are all kinds of factors for hikers to consider! And if you do wander off to the call of nature at night, look up so you can find your way back to the campsite with skills outlined in this book. Glad to see a survival book that caters to both ends of the horseshoe, from the hardcore preppers to the hemp-huggin hippies.

Great book!
This book is so good! My boys, 7 & 9, can’t put it down. They normally hate reading and avoid it at all cost. The book not only guides children in some super fun outdoor activities, but teaches them to cook and garden too. They’ve learned to build shelters and fishing poles. The frog gigs are a hit, as are the chapters on cleaning and descaling fish.I love that each chapter gives a brief history or explanation of why something is needed or done the way it is. There is so much more content to this book than I expected! The book is a must for your child’s summer reading list! It certainly has added adventure and enjoyment to our summer! Thank you, Steve!

Excellent Book
This book was recommended to me by a children’s librarian friend as a book that her very outdoorsy, active boys loved. My 12-year-old son has been in a trend to dislike reading lately and I wanted to find a book that he would enjoy. He has been loving this. He will actually sit down and read it but then go work on the projects from it. He loves outdoorsy things and tinkering with different projects. This book is right up his alley. He loves all things outdoors and this book was perfect as a birthday gift.

Where’s the chapters on golf and skiing?!?
Incredible book, just what we need in a world where kids are spending more time indoors and on electronic devices. I can’t wait to work through this book with my two girls, and hopefully give them an even more rewarding childhood than even my generation had. Thank you Steve and Brody and the Meateater crew for all the hard work you guys do!
