Great Definitive Flagship Center Channel Speaker
The DM30 is a fantastic center channel speaker. Every nuance in dialogue captured. You will be amazed at what you've been missing in lesser center channel speakers. I purchased DM20 first, which is less expensive, but returned it. If your budget can be stretched beyond the DM20, I highly recommend the Definitive DM30. Premium flagship speaker, packaged with great attention to detail. Complements and greatly enhances my existing Definitive system inclusive of Definitive Mythos ST left and right tower speakers. Extremely pleased, my 5.1 home cinema experience is vastly improved with the addition of the DM30. Crystal clear dialogue at any volume.

The bomb or at least loud enough and realistitc enough to be one!
I had a four year old CLR2002 as my center. Two Mythos Two speakers for the sides and four Studio Monitor 350s for the surrounds side and back which I bought at Magnolia in 2008. The Definitive Technology C/L/R 2002 Speaker out powered the other speakers. I was thinking the CLR2002 sounded so good why not try Definitive Technology CS-8080HD Powered Subwoofer as a center, buy one more CLR2002 and use those two as front left/right speakers replacing the Mythos Two speakers. So, the CS-8080HD is my new center. I also bought the Definitive Technology SR-8080BP Bipolar Surround Speakers for my left/right surround to keep the same level of quality speaker cones and power handling and kept my two Definitive Technology Studio Monitor 350 Speakers for my rears. Replaced my 12" down firing JBL Subwoofer with two Definitive Technology SuperCube III 120v Subwoofers and it is awesome to have room filling TIGHT base that is accurate, precise, and delivered right on time to your body... (These Subs are surprisingly small.)In short. I couldn't be more pleased. I have a dedicated home music system with four Martin Logan Requests and a Theater Center (all electrostatic) as well as their 1800 watt three speaker sub and the Definitive system above sounds just as good 'for movies.' For music it rocks as well but for movies cones in general work better than electrostatics. This system has not failed me or disappointed me in the least. I recommend all of these speakers without hesitation. I don't think for the money you can do better though sonically the room, and each person's tastes, like speakers for their own reasons so you may not have the same experience but after going through Magnolia at Best Buy and a few other local places I just added on to the speakers I had bought a few years back. I'm using a Yamaha Receiver (see my review) which works well (no clipping and I can turn it all the way up and not blow the speakers which is good having an 18 year old kid around...) and an OPPO Blu-ray player (the best ever so see my review) along with a 92" Mitsubishi DLP TV (awesome!!!).Just for some balance, other than the 8800 series from Definitive I'm not really impressed by any of their other systems. They all seem cheap and tinny and weigh next to nothing implying no large magnetic coil system. While the non 8800 stuff is "older" sometimes that is a good thing so don't rule them out and you can still find them new for cheap. Now, I just hope I don't shake my house down or tick off my neighbors. Just as an FYI I still haven't found a better studio monitor so I just bought four more of the 350s, two for my office and two for my bedside, as for the price and quality/weight I don't think you can find better.I hope this review was helpful so please let me know if it was or wasn't so I know if I should keep writing these or not. Good luck with your search for perfection... - Greg

Outstanding center and sub
I had my trusty old CS-8060 since 2013. After 10,000+ hours of use, the sub stopped working. I already have a Klipsch R-112SW 15" sub, but it's quite boastful and overwhelming when I watch films at low volume. Instead, late at night I would turn it off and watch stuff without ANY sub. I finally decided to get the CS-9080 for a less 'boomy' quiet watching environment.Well... this thing BOOMs. I set the sub volume knob halfway, and it has plenty of LFE to fill my large room. What I like about it, though is that I can more easily adjust the volume sweep compared to my Klipsch (that one needs a gentle touch, and it's awkward to reach). So, the subwoofer is certainly a contender. Most people wouldn't even need a dedicated subwoofer with this speaker.Center channel audio:Clarity of the voices is more natural sounding to my ears compared to the 8060. There's a smoother round-off in the upper mids, and the balance is much more "full". This is probably due to the larger 5.25" mid drivers compared to the 8060's 4.5". I notice a difference.I'm glad I finally pulled the trigger and went for this monster. I now have the Klipsch sub turned off most of the time, and will fire it up for those "special occassions" when it's movie day/night with friends. Heck, I might even experiment with a 2-sub setup, but not sure if they'll match well... but I'll give it a go some day.Current gear:Marantz SR-7011 receiver5.1.4 Atmos setup. L/R speakers Definitive Technology SM65, Rear speakers SM55, and ceiling speakers are the SM45s. Center speaker is... you guessed it! The CS-9080!

Absolutely incredibly awesome
Bought this here because no one had it .. was a replacement for a very old center speaker. If your in to movies with action .. sci fi etc this speaker is something you may want think about. The voice sound placement is amazing along with the powered sub it brought out sound I’ve never heard before in my particular surround setup. If you can swing it I highly recommend it is absolutely incredible!

Awesome sound
Love how you can adjust the bass on the back. We removed the sub-woofer from our surround system.

DM30 - Dialog is clear. Great for movies and music.
This made a significate improvement in the clarity of movie dialog. Good for music too as solo singer voices sound realistic. I paired this with DM80 front speakers and DM60 surround speakers. Fantastic sound all around.

A whole lot of performance (and size) in a high quality center-channel speaker.
I replaced a very old Bose cube setup with a Definitive Technology 9080 set attached to a Samsung Q7 75" QLED TV, and I am absolutely thrilled with the result. To be frank, the center channel speaker is quite large, but the performance is outstanding. If you think about it, ths center channel speaker is in the same price point as a Q7 Samsung soundbar, but the performance (including bass response) far exceeds that of the Samsung Q7 soundbar/bass module set. For those who use a receiver as part of a home theater system, I'd recommend this unit over any soundbar/bass module setup, bar none, even if you don't match it with large floor speakers. And if you do match it with the Definitive Technology floor speakers (or even just basic floor speakers), your home theater experience will be impressive.
