Cartell CP-4 Smart Driveway Free Exit Wand Sensor System with 100' Foot Cable for Gate Openers

Installed this with the topens gate opener. It was cheaper and 50ft longer than the topens brand. This was easy to connect and works great!! I like that gate starts opening 100 feet away.

The unit works just like the tube style Cartel CP3 and EMX branded comparable units. I noticed no difference between this one based on experience with the older style units. The unit has a sensitivity adjustment inside the direct burial housing if you need to turn it down or up. It is set on high from the factor. I believe I read the warranty is voided if you don't run it in conduit. 1/2" PVC conduit is the size that the receiver unit accepts without requiring any adapters couplings.I also liked that the wire was not as tacky as the older Cartel CP units wiring. The old wire would kinda stick together and get in a tangled mess when initially laying out. This wire outer coating is much nicer and easier to manage. The unit does not have the alum shielding wrap which can be cumbersome when splicing or cutting it shorter. This is another plus for me.Unit works well and will hopefully be as reliable as the prior CARTEL and EMX units used in the past. I recommend conduit burial. This will make replacement of the units much easier if you remember the approximate bury location you can simply fish the new unit wire back to the operator box and not worry about the trenching aspect. Is it worth the $80 to $100 extra in conduit. In my opinion it was and will make a subsequent repair much less labor intensive. Good luck.

I installed with the USAutomtic Patriot gate opener. I didn't use all the wires no worries, I followed the supplied directions. This unit is buried in the driveway for about 1 year as of this review as it is 20 feet wide. No problems holding up fine. If you have a narrow drive way you can surface mount on the side of the driveway.

As long as you follow the instructions it works like a champ. I bought this unit over other cheaper options because I didn't want to deal with issues. I'm glad I did. It works a treat. Solved the issue of UPS drivers getting stuck on my property.

Product works as advertised, maybe even a little better. The 5mph pass by for activation doesn’t seem to be true, if we roll slowly by the unit the gate will open. This is a positive for us.There is a series of units where they changed the sealing material for which there is a recall (check the Cartell website). I happened to receive one of these units, however I called and they sent a replacement the same day. Only downside is this little bit of hassle hence the four stars.
