Get Started in Modern Hebrew Absolute Beginner Course: (Book and audio support) (Teach Yourself Language)

The font is absolutely fine for people without visual impairments to read. The sensationalistic “TOO SMALL” reviews are quite simply ridiculous. Also, the book is not comprehensive of Hebrew as no book could possibly represent an entire language and culture in ~150 pages. Honestly.. learning a language is hard. It just is. There are no shortcuts, no ways to speed it up. It’s difficult. If you’re serious about learning any language, buy 2 beginners books, heck buy 3.. read them, try and learn from them and choose the one that best suits your learning style and return the others. Learning a language is a beautiful way to show your respect for a culture and to learn things from people you couldn’t have possibly spoken to without learning their language. This book is sincerely perfect for me and I look forward to working my way through it and the rest of the series!!תודה ובהצלחה לכולם

Pity there is no audio available for this book would make a big difference otherwise need to find other audio sources on the Internet to follow the dialogs and correct pronunciation of the words.

Book is good value for money and one can advance quite quickly. However the type is quite small! Especially reading Hebrew characters is difficult. I normally wear glasses to read but find myself using a magnifying glass now! I have noticed a number of printing errors already and I am only on page 19 to date. The recordings to accompany the book are available on the teach yourself library app and these are useful. I learned biblical Hebrew 40 years ago so already had some background experience of the language. Apart from the small size of the print and the occasional typos (which is appalling considering the cost) it's a good resource for learning the basics of modern Hebrew.

Great for new starters. I'm Israeli and got it for my boyfriend and he picks up the language quickly with it, so we bought another copy for a friend as well :-)

Initially used this book to learn Hebrew alphabet to be able to work with Duolingo app. Found the structure and theory in the book more useful than Duolingo. Now I'm using both this book and Duolingo to learn Hebrew. Progress is slow but steady. On chapter 3 (of 10) after two weeks of studying quite a lot (30 to 60 minutes per day).

Good. I don’t think a complete beginner could learn anything without the supporting cd.

The print size is way too small. And that’s just the English font. Trying to read the Hebrew font is even worse. I wear reading glasses and even with them the text is much too small. This is ridiculous. I’m not going to learn Hebrew with this book.

Buyer Beware! I downloaded this Kindle Enhanced Edition, but I've had to return it for a refund. The content is defective. Hebrew is written from right to left, but in this Kindle edition much of the Hebrew text appears the wrong way round, i.e. left to right. Fortunately, I already have a little knowledge of Hebrew and my intention was to improve my knowledge. If I were a total beginner I would have become totally lost and confused right from the very beginning! The text has obviously not been edited properly. I am extremely disappointed with this purchase. Up to now I've always had confidence in the Teach Yourself series; but not any more.

As I read through I find many mistakes! Another downsize is its small format that makes reading and writing a beginners struggle.
