Oh my God I was so bad this year - We ran out of chlorine during the winter... Which is usually fine because algae doesn't bloom in the winter I've noticed.... But here we are going into spring or the desert so the days are already up at like 80 to 85° so it started blooming!We've had it covered all winter with like one of those blue bubble covers - so I'm going to tell you the right way to use the shock because I see some people in the reviews complaining it's not working.Step oneBRUSH YOUR POOL! It's going to be gross because your pool is basically a nasty little swamp pond and it's going to be stinky and probably slimy but brush it and loosen up all that nasty algae.Step twoDo your best to skim it as much as you can especially around the filter inlets - Make sure your pool pump is running during brushing and skimming.Step threeSHOCK YOUR POOL! The instructions are super clear and actually tell you to do the above step number one lol I've shocked my pool before and it not work because I didn't brush it and loosen up all the crap and I was trying to get rid of.No I'm not doing anything other than that to prep the pool - I'm not balancing pH or adding any chemicals or whatever it's just nasty pond water getting agitated.In my photos you'll see in just 10 minutes the shock is already starting to change the color of the pool - I know I was shocked too.Then there's the photo of it getting more clear and that's at least 2 hours after the shock.I used a whole bag even though that's way too much for our pool because I needed to use the big guns and get it taken care of.I'll update my review when I've got the more photos to share I'm actually in the process of doing it right now those photos above are from like a couple hours before Im writing this review.

I bought this Clorox Pool Shock 6-in-1 after my pool started looking like it had ambitions to become a frog sanctuary. Seriously, I was two days away from renting it out to local toads as a summer timeshare.Dumped this stuff in like a mad scientist performing a ritual. Ten minutes later, I swear I heard the algae scream. The water went from murky green to crystal clear like it was auditioning for a Fiji commercial.Highly recommend. My pool is now so clean, birds stop by just to judge their reflections.

this and the 4 in 1 is the only shock you need ....... brush your pool or have a bot that does it for you. .... without making this complicated Algae needs PHOSphates to eat ..... kill the PHOS and there will be no algae . PHOS come from everything dirt leaves body oils sun tan lotion everything Keep your pool clean and Kill the PHOS and you will not have algae. . don't over shock or chorinate your pool that chem will be super deadly to your pump and heater .......... don't panic if you see algae shock and buy some PHOS killer and clean your pool with a brush and keep the dirt out

Been using this in the pool for years and works great. Combine with another product (Pool Perfect+) and I have very few algae problems. Maybe once a year a bit of mustard algae, but in the FL heat it's always a battle. Some stores won't ship.

The Clorox Pool&Spa Shock XTRABLUE Plus is an excellent product for keeping our pool clean and clear. It effectively kills bacteria and algae, and I love that the pool is swim-ready in just 15 minutes. The 12-pack is a great value, making it easy to keep up with regular maintenance. I’ve noticed a big difference in water clarity and overall cleanliness since using this shock. Highly recommend for any pool owner!

I spent tons of time with testing strips and different combinations of chemicals to try to keep my pool water clear. What has worked the best is this shock, then clarifier as the water WILL get cloudy after use (this is supposedly the dead organisms left over from the shock).
