I used this hardware to install a barn door for my home office. I am very pleased with the final result and the hardware feels and looks for solid and high quality. However, it was not a simple install and took me a bit of time since I did it alone with no helper. A second set of hands would make things easier.This is the only kit I could find online or in stores that mounts a barn door to the ceiling and lets the door be flush with the ceiling. It works great and you shouldn't be afraid to try it but be aware of some challenges you may have to work through.Issues:1. Instructions are pretty vague. Take your own measurements and check everything twice.2. I didn't trust the plastic inserts to hold the weight of the door in the drywall ceiling. I added 2x6 reinforcements between the rafters in the attic and attached to them with lag screws I purchased separately. Measuring where to install the reinforcements in the attic and then making multiple trips up the ladder was probably the hardest part of the project.3. I did find that the rod had a slight twist to is. However, if you loosen the fasteners, there is enough slop to get it to sit flush to the ceiling. I left all the bolts loose and once all the ceiling attachments were made, I tightened everything else up. The end result is rock solid. I think I could do a pull up on the bar.4. The designers of the product probably are not familiar with the baseboards used in American homes. I used the supplied measurements for installing the wheel on the door and as a result, the door hits the baseboard a couple mm before the stopper on the rod. You should check for this before drilling the hole in your door.5. I thought the guide to keep the door from tilting out from the wall that was part of the package was a bit small. It was only possible to use a ceiling mount installation. Since the opening was too wide for one door and both doors would need to open in one direction, I had to overlap a 6' and 8'.This was the solution I designed and I had it professionally installed.The doors are solid so my installers put in extra framing in the ceiling.The provided guides did not work in this situation so I used the pictured door stops as guides which keep the doors from swinging.Note to DIYHD: The rollers became loose (I've seen others report this issue). It was solved by adding a washer. I think the bolts are slightly too long.Also: DIYHD promptly responded each time I had a question and recently sent me a replacement for a defective bumper. I just installed it today which reminded me to write this review.

We ended up having to hire two different contractors because of the complexity of installing this into a support brace in the ceiling. This ceiling rack system is one of very few that I found that mounts to ceilings—most of them obviously attach to the wall. That being said it did exceed the expectations in quality and we’re happy with the final installation.

Looks great! Sturdy, a little tricky to mount. But end product is great. We used it to hide the laundry in our kitchen.

The ceiling/hanger brackets are countersunk with NO threading. The attachment pieces on the bar are countersunk with NO threading. It’s impossible to attach the two components. Emailed the China based company with all the details and pictures for the issue and have received no response. At this point, I’ve wasted both my money and my time.

UPDATED 11/28Contacted the seller, and they quickly sent a replacement roller. No hassle. Excellent service. The new roller worked well.Upgrading to 3-star review:PRO - high quality materials. Nice lookCON - Design needs to be mounted into studs to be safe (in my opinion). Spacing of brackets is not adjustable. This forces you to mount a board to your ceiling and then the door to the board. It takes significantly more effort than originally expected, especially if you want it to look nice (e.g., matching paint). Also, the provided door stoppers that go on the end of the rod have a set screw that requires a hex key. The provided hex key is too long and hits the ceiling. I needed to cut it short with a dremel tool in order to install the door stops with the rod attached to the ceiling. Simply lame engineering. There are a lot of little issues like that with this set-up.ORIGINAL REVIEWTapped hole in one of the rollers was not tapped deep enough, resulting in the Fastener being too long when installing through the door. I need a new wheel with proper tap depth or a shorter fastener. Very disappointing after many hours of installation work.Quality of the materials is excellent. The design does require you to find studs in your ceiling. I don't trust the provided drywall anchors. We solved the problem by installing a 2x4 to suds and then the bracket to the 2x4, because the fixed spacing feet on the rail did not ceiling stud spacing. Lots of extra work to make it look nice.

I had been looking for something to close off a space that did not have a header area above the opening and this fit the bill. It is nice to look at and did not cut into the opening's clearance very much at all. This item is sleek and beautiful to look at. We are very happy and would definitely purchase it again. Tip: Our ceiling studs did not align with the mount so our contractor added a board to ceiling and then attached the hardware to the board. I would not suggest using toggle bolts/anchors into the drywall as someone suggested in their comments.

Came very quickly, love the quality. Took a little manipulation to install, but very happy with the hardware.

Good product, well made but the anchors for the ceiling brackets just don’t work, I would recommend the manufacturer either use a standard concrete anchor or not include these in the kit.
