Target Long Shackle 4 Digit 57mm Combination Padlock (1 Lock)

Gone are my days of using a padlock and key! It's too much hassle; labelling the key (so it doesn't get mixed up with my 24 other keys), putting the key in a safe place (so I can then go on to forget where the safe place is), humbling around in the dark trying to insert key into the padlock, only to then forget the key in the shed and then padlock the door shut!!! I just couldn't do it anymore - so padlocks with combination locks are the way forward for me!The Target lock is great - it does exactly what it should do! A strong and sturdy lock, to keep my possessions safe. This lock is used on our shed, but I can imagine it being useful for many purposes: to lock up a bike, a gym locker, even a large suitcase! The longer shank is great, as it means the lock would be suitable for even the trickiest of doors, gates, etc. I was slightly reluctant at first, to purchase the lock, as some reviewers have experienced faulty combinations and the lock breaking after a few weeks - ours works perfectly though. The combination was easy enough to change and I haven't experienced any faults with the product since.

I've deliberately waited some time before posting a review, as I have had previous problems with similar products seizing up over time and / or due to the effects of weather. No such trouble this time around though and approx 1 year on, the lock is working perfectly. The quality, look and feel of the product is good and the combination is easy to turn. It's also worth noting that, unlike some locks, there is some minor leeway in getting the combination dials into the right place (i.e. you don't have to get it absolutely 100% aligned for the lock to open, which can be a frustration with other locks). My lock is used to secure an outside gate and there have been no issues with it working in all weathers. Recommended.

After less than 1 week it would unlock, whatever the last 2 numbers were set to. Now won't unlock at all, despite going through the reset procedure. Only been used for a week and unlocked about 5 times.A further warning to potential buyers; the lock body is plastic and the base looks as though it could easily be prised apart. I know it's not expensive, but it should work properly.

Opened it, set new combination as instructed, closed it. Wouldn't open again with correct combination, even trying combinations close to the set one and the default. The sound of tinkling around inside indicates that something has broken...Returned for refund.

All worked well for a while until I came to changing the combination for security purposes. So followed the instructions, and as another reviewer also found, once you have set the new combination and closed the lock, neither the new nor the old combination works, so the lock becomes useless and has to go in the bin. This means that setting a new combination renders the lock unusable, should be warned about this.

Perfect lock for my needs (Garden Shed). Easy to set-up your own combination and the numbers turn freely without sticking. I cannot fault this product.

I wanted a long shackle combination lock but have read so many reviews about them seizing in winter I wasn't sure which one to get. I have had this on for 6 months now through winter and no issues yet

It fits what I wanted but the 3rd time I wanted to close it it was very sticky like it had already started to rust inside - got there eventually but I do not have high hopes of this having along life
