Works a treat
Having bought myself a TP-Link TL-WN823N USB 300mps adapter I decided to try a different one for my wife's notebook. The TP-Link Projects a fair way out of the USB port, so our notebooks wouldn't fit into the neoprene cases we normally use. It was also a real faff getting the thing working as the notebooks do not have optical drives and the drivers were not so easy to find online. The StarTech is so much smaller than ten TP-Link that it can remain in the USB port all the time, just like my old Belkin one used to and the notebook fits inside the case perfectly. Windows 10 also installed a compatible driver automatically, so installation was a breeze. Although I haven't done back to back speed or range comparisons between the tow adapters, the StarTech gets my vote, simply because it works well enough and it's a fit and forget piece of kit. TP-Link TL-WN823N on a whim.Recommended.

and having had StarTech recommended to me by someone who knows about this stuff
My cable internet speed was increased recently from 60 mbps to 160 mbps but my laptop could only achieve the massive increase via an ethernet cable, but the internal wi-fi card couldn't cope. However, who wants to use a laptop with an umbilical cord.Having sourced this on the internet, and having had StarTech recommended to me by someone who knows about this stuff, I gave it a try.It was an extremely competitive price, arrived very quickly, and was a doddle to install. Just stick the accompanying CD in the drive, load up the driver, reboot, and stick the gadget in a USB socket. It was available in seconds (Windows 7), just stuck the password in on the available network (the 5G version) and bingo, 135 mbps download speed, wirelessly. It's narrower that a convensional USB stick, and has a protruding area about the size of a SIM card. Very neat. Haven't tried it at distance yet so can't comment although I did achieve >120 mbps in the adjoining room with a brick wall partition. I believe that the fall-off is greater with 5G than 2.4G.Would definitely recommend

Works with windows 10!
I upgraded an old Dell 1525 laptop to Windows 10 and had issues with the network card i was using (Intel 4965AGN). The Startech card doesn't support the 5-Ghz bandwidth, but it works well and Windows 10 has stopped crashing all the time.

I have recently upgraded to win 10 and my BT ...
I have recently upgraded to win 10 and my BT usb wifi dongle started to randomly drop the connection, as there is no win 10 driver I purchased the startech AC600. No dropped connection but my speed dropped from 37 to under 20. If you intend to run win 10 beware, seems to work well on win 7.

Adds new lease of life to Dell M4600 laptop running Windows 10
As an owner of a venerable Dell Precision M4600 laptop, I was unable to update my operating system to Windows 10 Anniversary (1607) or Creators Update (1703) due to the existing Broadcom Wifi card drivers being unstable/unsupported and causing the wifi to drop. Installing this card seems to have corrected this issue and I have high hopes my perfectly good laptop will be stable for the foreseeable future.I installed the drivers supplied on the DVD before running the Creators Update and all is well.

Would be better if it covered the complete 5 Ghz band.
For some reason it doesn't pick up the top 5 Ghz band as opposed to the bottom 5 Ghz band. I have a Linksys one and that completely covers the 5 Ghz band. Using a three band router so whilst I had turned off the lower 5 Ghz band I had to switch it back on again. I suspect that it's defaulting to perhaps US settings but I have found no way to alter the channel bands. Bit of a mystery. The top band starts from channel 100.

I tried to go to the customer support page of the startech website to ask them what that means and I didn't figure out yet how t
didn't do nothing special, my connection lines are still the same. I install the program it works but on the tray icon it shows an exclamation sigh that shows something isn't working properly despite the fact that it works. On tray icon it keeps saying no rtl818x which I don't know what that is. I tried to go to the customer support page of the startech website to ask them what that means and I didn't figure out yet how to send them a specific question so overall I wouldn't recommend this especially for the price. I think you can find something better with even less money.

it was to small to stream pretty much anything
used it with the raspberry pi. it was to small to stream pretty much anything. this hasnt got enough juice to stream let alone high quality hd files. it stuttered and really just in general couldnt handle what i was asking it to do. just as a note i got a belkin from argos instead for around £4 more and its been briliiant. its worth paying out the extra.

Cheap, you get what you pay for.
Poor performance. Transfer speeds vary wildly during a file transfer on LAN, and is unable to stream video from our NAS.

So far so good works quite well with no interference

Works as expected
A nice cheap upgrade that allows wifi access to a laptop with broken wifi card. It's faster than the built-in card as well.

Effectively useless without this information
Does not come with an antenna cable. And no indication of what would be required to connect one.Effectively useless without this information.
