This is a must read to be able to understand the importance of soil and the maintenance of it for a better quality of life on earth. Awesome read!

This book was a disappointment for me. I was hoping to learn the basics about soil science, but there's really very little information in the book even at an introductory level. The book can basically be summed up as 10 "chapters" that are 2-5 pages long in which the given chapter topic is repeatedly called "key", "important", "vital", etc with hardly any detail about what's even being discussed. In an entire chapter there's maybe a paragraph or two worth of actual content and the rest is just vague generalities.I suppose the book could be used as a reference for topics to further investigate, but in itself there's very little to be learned here.To be fair, the first two chapters are actually not bad and contain almost an acceptable amount of detail, but it almost seems like the author got tired and just cranked out the remaining chapters without any thought.

This introduction to soil science is just a little 57 page brochure that took me less than 30 minutes to read. It's very very basic, and written very dryly.

Sustainable agriculture is sadly not a very seeked out subject, which is a shame giving the great job this book does in providing the fundamentals of one of its components, such as soil science. It has a great variety of topics and approaches to this complex science, while adding the most relevant information for beginners to this matter.It also has a focus on practical applications as the knowledge is discovered throughout. If you are looking to expand or even just start getting into this subject, this short book provides a very comprehensive guide to the basics of this science as well as it highlights the importance of it that may slip through the cracks.

Michael Barton, educated in environmental sciences, puts his knowledge to astute use in this fine primer on things ... soilish. Even though my first job was in my uncle's greenhouses way back in high school and I proved to have a green thumb throughout the years, I learned much and hope to once again get down and dirty by planting my garden. It was edifying to have read how crucial soil is to this precarious planet of ours. Dig in!!! Five easy stars!!!

This book was a solid resource ok soul management. I’ve never been a person who claimed to have a green thumb, but I readily embrace the opportunity to sow and harvest healthy foods when available. This book has a ton of litterateur and references that one can utilize to such an end.

What an important book to have! I just moved with my partner to a new home and we have a garden!Obviously, deep down in my heart I always wanted to do gardening as a hobby and I love flowers vegetables any kind of plants their history behind and everything.That is why this book is amazing because it is not just about gardening but the most important thing is the Soil and the field quality and I'm so happy that I could learn more about this "science point of view" because I will grow the much better quality of herbs and plants in my garden in the future.Definitely recommended super high-quality of content and a beautiful cover design!

Unfortunately I would not recommend this book. It is not very informative because it lacks detail and has a lot of repetition.

The author repeats the same sentences or points over and over again, offering no deep insights into any of the topics covered. It screams of an AI written summary piece, or just bad writing.

I'm just starting to learn about growing my own vegetables etc at home, I have read a few books and it just made sense to me to understand about the soil our food grows in.It's a great resource and easy to follow and such an important topic.

This book was so informative and thorough. Really good read for anyone who is an avid gardener.
