Better than hi to low level convertors
This unit offers lots of customizations based on your vehicle. Allows for total sound adjustments between all speakers as well as adds the Punch EQ boost to the menu. App allows you to configure it via bluetooth with phone but works best on a table as a bigger screen to see everything on. The App also allows for all of the gain adjustments . Very ease to use and configure. The directions were a bit lack luster but there were many videos out there that show you how to do everything with it.

Converts factory stereo to low level outputs to drive your amplifier(s)
Installation was a breeze. The unit requires three updates/programming. If you follow the steps in the order given in the instructions, it works great. Miss one step and you'll have problems. But easy to remedy by going back and follow the steps. The DSR1 has outputs for 8 channels. 4 are standard stereo outputs, one that is labeled "spare" channel and then the subwoofer outputs. I chose to use the iDataLink Maestro cable and features which allows for retaining all the factory controls. The systems, once tuned and amps set with proper gain sounds AMAZING! The Perfect Tunes software for the EQ and Crossovers is a bit overwhelming to learn to use. This is not a standard EQ, but a 31 channel EQ. There is a setting for a standard 6 bar EQ, but since I chose the Maestro features I can't access that in Perfect Tunes as it relies on the factory head unit's EQ settings which in my case is a 3 bar EQ...Bass, Mid and Treble. So what I did is set my speakers up to crossover settings with highs going to dash, mids going to front doors and bass going to rear doors. This allows me to use the trim levels to control what you normally control with an EQ. Between that and the 3 bar EQ on the HU I get a lot of control. If I need more control I go into the 31 bar EQ.This setup is not user intuitive. It will require a bit of a learning curve unless you've worked in audio before. It is pretty high level audiophile stuff. Read up on Rockford Fosgate 3.sixty as it has basically the same settings as the Perfect Tunes app.Update:9/24/2020-while making some adjustments to crossovers today the DSR1 locked up. My volume control did not affect volume of music coming out of speakers, although the display showed the volume control change it had no effect on the actual music coming out of the speakers. I turned off the vehicle and let it sit for a few minutes and then turned vehicle back on. Now I have no sound coming out of my speakers. Everything looks fine on the display but no sound. Had to remove the radio console from the dash since I mounted the DSR1 behind the radio, then unplug the harness from the DSR1 to get it to power down. Plugged it back in and everything is working again. So warning to others...mount this unit somewhere you can get to easily so you don't have to tear into your dash every time it needs a reboot. Of course that requires the purchase of more cables to extend it to where you can mount it. I'm about to go shopping now for the cable extensions. Hopefully its plug and ply. I'm capable of making my own cable so I may go that route if I can't find a premed extension so I can relocate the DSR1.

Affordable quality DSP from Rockford
For the price this has to be the most affordable quality DSP on the market. 4 channels of input and 8 channels of output was perfect for my needs. Independent volume, time alignment, crossover, and equalization for each individual channel it’s amazing. You can tailor each part of your system just the way you like. Adjustments are at your fingertips with the Perfect Tune app. I also have the PLC2 Wired level control which I assigned as a master volume. If you want to bring your sound system to life and have customization abilities a DSP is a must have and this is priced very well. Can’t go wrong with Rockford either. Once you get this don’t forget to update it. The update process is not the most user friendly but Five Star Car Stereo has excellent YouTube tutorials about this DSP and a dedicated YouTube video for the update process.

Usless
Google terrible Bluetooth connectivity with certain devices they have an updated the software years we're gonna give it another try but I think I'll be returning this and getting a diamond audio you go to the Rockford Fosgate website which hasn't been updated in years to download all the software you go to the web link/the mall to the universal close that program correct auto operations open up the rocket updater app, but instead of it being . Come on Amazon is a staff offering, third-party distributors hold them accountable. This DSP did come in perfect shape however, you just can't update the software.

Excellent value, but beware if you are using an Android device.
Great entry level dsp. You get a ton of features (31 band eq per speaker, time alignment, crossovers, ect.) for the cost. The initial setup was a bit of a headache, but the sound quality is excellent. The app is trash on Android devices but works fine on IOS.

2016 Chevy 2500 non Bose 8"
I was very skeptical of this with the reviews I saw and very little support or instruction for Chevy installs. Add the GM3 Maestro harness and its actually a very easy install however if your truck is loaded there isn't room in the dash for it without a little modification, and if you put it too far out of the way the Bluetooth signal is easily lost for tuning. On mine there is a storage door where an ashtray would have normally been, I cut the top out with a Dremal and stored it there along with the punch eq know. Its clean easy to get too and I still have room for business cards. There are some good you tube videos on how to set this. Everything from the factory is about useless including the programming for a chevy. If you have the model I have and the GM3 harness...Do the factory update as shown and cap off the extra amp remote wires except the out on the DSR 1 itself. If your using the factory speaker wires splice those into the harness from you amp, connect the RCAs and your good to go. BTW I thought it would be slick and add some space to wire stuff but if you have a factory setup with CD, it has to be connected for it to work. It seems like you could just dump it...I mean who uses cds...but there is other stuff in besides the cd player that the system needs. Frustrating trying to find info on but other than that and the touchy blue tooth it works wonders. Oh and door chimes and what not work fine you just have to play with your gain controls to prevent them from being too loud...its all in the tuning. I do highly recommend you get the punch eq knob...its much easier than using the app...as you'll be adjusting that frequently based on your music selction.
