SmallRig Professional 77mm CPL Filter, MRC Circular Polarizer Filter, Schott B270 Optical Glass Filter for DSLR Camera Mirrorless Cameras - 3587

I have only been using something more complicated than a point-and-shoot compact for about 18-months. Having discovered the magic of filters, I purchased several CPLs from the local camera retailer. While they worked well, there was vignetting at the corners when I shot photos at 16mm - 24mm. Further, because the filter rotated and was darker at the "top", I sometimes ended up with one side of the photo being dark and the other side lighter. Then I was offered the "SmallRig Professional 77mm CPL Filter, MRC Circular Polarizer Filter, Schott B270 Optical Glass Filter" as a VINE choice. I am very pleased with this filter.The filter screws onto a Sony 24mm-105mm f/4 lens easily. Because it is a uniform color, my photos do not have a darker portion in the wrong place due to the filter rotating and my failing to remember to check it. There is no vignetting at any focal length and no dark "x" that I have read about. Photos are clear and sharp; whether they fall into the "tack sharp" category is beyond my expertise - or lack thereof. The price is reasonable, particularly for non-professionals. I do wish this filter was available in other sizes as I would definitely purchase an 82mm for my wide-angle lens.

Polarizing when rotating isn’t significant enough to notice. 10/10 would recommend that it’s good for simply protecting lens especially for its price.

The media could not be loaded. The attached video demonstrates the use of this filter on water reflections.There are less expensive CPL filters out there, but this one is very reasonably priced and I haven't seen a better filter for this price. Cheaper filters tend to have issues this one doesn't have.The threads are nice and smooth, and it lets go of the lens easily without the risk of it binding. There isn't any strange color cast that needs to be corrected as far as I can tell. When used correctly, it can help darken the sky and/or reduce reflections and glare. I couldn't see any deterioration in image quality with this filter in place. At this price point, this seems like a good quality CPL filter, and it's the one I plan to keep in my camera bag from now on.

I took this filter out for a spin today. I'm not use to shooting with them so I can definitely see a difference in vibrant colors. These pics are complete raw and unedited. Shot with a canon EOS R / 70-200mm F4 L canon lens
