This keeps shrimp alive, at least where I'm using it in a canal off the Gulf of America. I have been using this to hold bait shrimp and they live for weeks using this pen dropped into water deep enough that the pen never sits on the bottom. Given that shrimp rarely lasted more than a couple days in a traditional shrimp bucket that floats on surface, this pen will pay for itself within a few fishing trips.

Really nice quality. Using it to insert a large pond pump so my fish don’t get sucked into it. Not the original intent but works great for that. Very large opening and heavy duty mesh.

Over all awesome little fish basket. Held all the fish and survived being hauled up a spillway. The opening/cordage to keep closed could be done better. You may be in trouble if you can't tie knots and you let it untie.

I must admit, this is a really well put together basket. It has no metal parts to rust. The rubber material is thick and very flexible. The floats keep the opening well out of the water. There isn't much they could do to improve this.

The materials and craftsmanship are surprisingly good for the price. Except for the nylon line to tether the bait pen, just expect to throw that out and use your own rope or old dock line. I tried to keep a few menhaden over night on my boat and they were dead by the AM. Not enough room in the pen, I suspect. But this pen will likely work well with smaller baitfish. Besides the unworkable yellow tether line, the only downside is how hard it is to get the risidual fish scales out of the rubber mesh. I had to power wash them out, even after a week of sitting and baking in the sun. That said, good value for the price and it folds up nice and compact.
