Bedroom TV hardwire internet never worked, so we used Wi-Fi. Was having some intermittent wifi issues and wanted to look into why the hardwire never worked. Immediately found one wire was not “punched down” completely in the connector. Quick fix. Paid for itself in 15 minutes.

DISLIKES: NONELIKES: this tester can check connectors to be sure they are wired properly, it also tests the entire cat5 cabke and shows hiw its wired by L.E.D. indicator lights.Something this unit came with was a nice soft case to protect and keep it in, it is also rechargeable which was a big plus for me.However, the battery is replaceable, so uf it does finally stop charging, it can be replaced.But IT IS not a standard battery, it is a flat pack, 3.7V 1100mAh battery with wires and a small connector. I haven't looked to purchase a spare battery for it as yet, so not sure how easy this battery will be to locate as of this writing.Even with that, the unit is nice, well constructed and if it lasts as long as my original unit did (15+ years) I'll be happy.Yes, I would recommend this RJ45 cat cable and RJ11 telephone cable tester. A very useful tool to have in your toolbox.

I occasionally have to crawl like a bear through an attic to run Cat6 cable for WiFi Access Points. This is a great little tool for testing the cable before the installation....or to help evaluate cables or WiFi outputs in existing installations. ONE THING to remember.... the battery is a rechargeable mini-USB. Charge it up before you need it..... I think they should make a AAA battery model. I'd rather replace the battery than go to use the tool only to discover it needs charging.
