WOW!
Were have i been with out this book! All of those like me who are maybe not new to boating, but new to owning a big cruiser, you need this book in your collection! The author does a fantastic job of describing each and every electric system on the boat, from the power windlass to the stern light, it is all covered in very good detail.I purchased this book on a recommendation of my local boat yard manger because i was having a heck of a time understanding my 1984 Chris Craft 251 Catalina electric systems, mostly the 120 ac volt side and my biggest headache was the bonding system. I, like most newbies to the cruiser world, ASSUMED the 120 volt side was wired like a house BAD, COSTLY mistake for me! I had lost a new rudder, propeller, and prop shaft as well as a high speed scoop in three years time to corrosion, yes the boat is kept in salt water, but three years..Galvanic corrosion..A word that will not leave me for a long time, and a very expensive word for me now. This book is a must have! Don't start a boat electrical project without it!

Half empty box of Candy
The information within this book is exactly what I was after and is explained in manner that even I could understand. The author has done a wonderful job and should be commended for that, however, the publisher has let him down dramatically. The book presents as a well manufactured, UV coated, case bound cover but that is as far as the quality goes. After paying top price for an American printed book one would and should expect the quality of paper for the text to be a shade better than the lick coated, cheap rubbish that has been used. It is the next thing to a work shop manual, so how about trying to build in just a little more robustness into it's production? It's like trying to produce the dead sea scrolls on newsprint. Must frustrate the author no end. Good info, poorly put together.

Great foundation for marine electrical knowledge.
This is a well written book for someone building a foundation on understanding their boat.

Excellent electrical reference
An excellent reference book for the boat owner and technician alike. It covers the subject well but not to the point you feel like it too technical. Even though I have a a long a varie experience with electrical systems on boats I still keep this book with me as a handy reference. It has many tips and shortcuts and handy ways to troubleshoot electrical systems. His writing style is straight forward without a lot of jargon or technical terms that the novice won't know, and is even humorous at times. I woulld recommen this to anyone owning a boat or to a marine electrician.
