Bosch AMW 10 SG Multi-Tool with Pole Pruner Attachment

Purchasing a product called Bosch one tends to expect German effiiency.Obviously this must be made elsewhere as it was programmed for release in January 2013.It now being March and the trees are beginning to bud, the product has not appeared.Is this due to Bosch or Amazon?Finally arrived, fortunately the cold weather held tree growth back.Excellent piece of kit, chainsaw cuts through much larger branches than expected.Ordered and used extension pole and will be buying hedge trimmer fitting later.

It took a while to get the lubricant onto the entire chain for better cutting. Very little power and with the limited teeth on the chain and the semi ridged aluminum pole, it bounces a bit when coming into contact with any wood. Still managed to get through anything I was cutting... eventually. Like most chainsaws, let it do the work. There is no forcing this one through even the softest wood. Not like dad's 120cc 9 hp saw.

The machine arrived as promised. It seems well made. You have to hold the saw lighly in the cut or the pole will shake and twist. What is comforting is that the branch or trunk is 2 metres away from you when it falls. Much safer than a regular chain saw. Easy to use and control, no fumes, no tingling vibrations, no fuel to buy. But it does use a lot of chain oil. Also the carabiner clip that hold the shoulder strap to the motor housing is very weak. The spring shutter on the carabiner failed before I even used the saw. So the carabiner is the only poor component. Everything else seems good. Another nice touch is that because it plugs together in the middle, you can store the parts in a much shorter area than a pole saw that stays in one piece.A further nice touch is that the weight is balanced between the near end and the far end, horizontal cuts are easy since there is no strain to hold the pole horizontal. On the whole I am very pleased with the machine.

It only lasted 20 minutes and now is does not work anymore. The motor spins but the wheel that drives the chain does not. So now I have an expensive noise maker. I paid extra for the Bosch name, they obviously outsourced this one. I'll post my after sales experience after I try to return it.Cost me 58 Euro to ship this back to Amazon.I can no longer buy a large item from Amazon if this is what it will cost when something goes wrong.Maybe Amazon are getting too big to care.

I hoped this would be higher quality than the Ryobi ones I had for years. In many ways it is, very sturdy and seems well built, but switch failed shortly after having it new and now the powerhead has completely failed (something like stripped gears I am guessing). Fortunately, still under warranty. I am committed to these Bosch tools now but certainly they aren't built to last. Actually, I also have a Bosch fridge and it is also crap. Hmmm.

excellent piece of kit a bit heavy or just robust i think the latter will be buying other attachmemts if their this good

Love it. Went through a lot of oil - I would recommend picking up an additional container of the lubricant (available on Amazon).Powerful little chainsaw that made quick work of some pruning. Relatively quiet. Definitely a very serious tool, and very dangerous if not handled and respected properly. Use with caution (but also with a smile).

Unpacking it carefully and assembled as per the instructions, I was slightly shocked to see how often the chain jammed and came off.I was cutting well within the Recommended size of branch, and was surprised that a Bosch product would be this fragile given what it is designed to do.This is Not a cheap bit of kit, so would have expected better.
