Works like a charm!
I bought this because I was too lazy to take my car to autozone after a check engine light was coming on and off for a week. This product was very easy to use and the instruction booklet was straightfoward. I love that I can both scan codes and reset codes right from my phone! My only complaint is that it uses WiFi rather than Bluetooth, but that's a pretty minor complaint. You will also need a 3rd party app in order to receive data from the reader. I downloaded OBD Fusion. This reader is specifically compatible with iOS, make sure you have an iPhone or something! If anyone is having trouble, follow these steps:1. Plug reader into OBD2 port2. Turn car to "ON" but do not turn it over! Engine should not be running.3. Go to wifi settings on your iPhone/iPad/Mac and find the OBDII network.4. Connect to the network, more details and troubleshooting can be found in booklet5. Go to the app you installed and run a scan for codes! And if anyone was wondering, my check engine light was due to advanced timing somewhere in the engine. After researching, I discovered it was because I had forgotten to get an oil change for far too long. Oops :( at least it was a cheap and easy fix. If I had taken it to the dealer I have no doubts they would have sold me a ton of stuff I didn't need.

Fantastic Device - High Praises - Paid for Itself First Use
The BAFX code reader and OBD2 Fusion software is easy to use, and shows much more information than just the basic codes. My 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser with 180,000 miles was having a lack of power when ascending hills on the highway. Then all of the sudden it had a severe lack of power, and was running very rough. The CEL, Traction, and VSC lights came on. With the high mileage I was fearing the worst, and stopped driving it. After checking out the FJ Cruiser forums, I decided to get a code reader and chose this one for use on iOS with the OBD Fusion app (additional nominal fee on Apple App Store)It showed a P0304 (Misfire cylinder 4). I swapped the ignition coils on cylinders 2 and 4, and now received a P0302 (Misfire cylinder 2), indicating the ignition coil is the most obvious source of the problem. One new ignition coil later, and it's running like a top.Price of repair was $55 + the BAFX code reader + the app. Under $100.Who knows what I would have been told at the dealer? Even if diagnosed honestly and correctly, I suspect I'd have had a bill of $250 minimum. One point to note. The printed instructions omit a step. They state to plug the unit in to the OBD2 port, connect to it's wi-fi signal using the phone, and then press 'Connect' in the OBD Fusion app to connect to the vehicle. It may be self-evident, and totally obvious with hindsight, but before connecting to the vehicle with the app, the engine must be started, otherwise the app will fail to connect. After failing to connect to the vehicle, I watched the setup video which clearly says to start the engine before trying to connect. Obvious? Yes, but not stated in the written instructions.I couldn't be more pleased with this product.

Fantastic, with one caveat.
This product works as advertised. It plugs in, connects quick, and makes life much easier. Its a good price and i have 0 complaints about the product. So, what's the catch?Simple: this product does NOT come with an App. You have to download one separately. If you use android, no problem. There a couple free, fantastic, ones. If you are on Apple/IOS? You're going to have to pay a few extra dollars to get a good app. I read this and thought it would not be an issue, they seemed cheap enough and had free trials. However... the quality of cheap apps are poor at best.If i had known this, i may have bought a different, more expensive, product that comes with software - given that I'm on apple And the cheapest Software runs around 12$, and you probably wont get much from it. Having to invest around 25$ for actual work. Making the total cost of this tool for me around 50$.If that sounds reasonable then you found your scanner! Again, works like a charm. Updates quick. Reads thousands of codes and has worked in every vehicle i put it in - no issues.

Works well. Very responsive.
Purchased the iOS version that comes with WiFi and Bluetooth. Ever since iOS 13, Apple only allows items with 4.0 Bluetooth to work. This item is 3.0 Bluetooth which is compatible with Android only. The item does not come with an app however, Installation was easy. Insert the device into Odb2 slot, turn car on, wait for lights to flash and connect it to your phone’s WiFi.Keep in mind also that when connected via WiFi you will not be able to connect to the internet. It is for this that the Bluetooth version is better in my opinion. There are are numerous apps to use on the AppStore. I am currently using Car Scanner which is free with an option to purchase which removes ads.Android store has an app called torque which is very nice but unavailable in iOS.The unit is very responsive and works great in my 2015 Mazda CX-5. It’s about 4 inches x 2 inches and may be left in the slot permanently. It basically disappears and is unnoticeable when installed. It reads speed, rpms and has live data. It also displays trouble codes and has the option to erase them. If a code is found simply do a google search for a description. It can also inform you if your car will pass an emissions test. I really like the tool and overall it’s a must have for all cars.

Works great!
I’ve used this to diagnose many vehicles. Even with a free app it’ll do what you need
