The bracket is extremely easy to use. AC is secure can can’t be pushed either direction. The little window locks that come with it are too narrow to be useful on any modern windows however, wish they were sold separate.

We recently replaced the windows in our 90-year old home with vinyl ones and needed to install 4 window air conditioners. We have one large one on the first floor, so of course security is a priority. It's a rather large unit (18000 BTU 230 V) and this bracket did NOT fit the window for this unit. I had to secure it via an outside mounting bracket since it's such a heavy unit anyway. However, the bracket worked perfectly for an upstairs smaller unit! Not wanting to drill any holes into the new vinyl windows, securing the units upstairs was again a priority since we don't want them falling down killing people or able to be pushed in by potential intruders. This bracket does the trick perfectly for our smaller units. It worked so well that I purchased two more brackets for the other two upstairs units. But, the window clamps that come with it aren't the best, so I don't use them but rather cut two 2x2's to precisely wedge in the upper part of the double-hung windows so that it's impossible to open them. This is critical because the bracket is only functional (i.e., you can't push the A/C/ unit in or out) IF both sashes of the window are immobile/secured. I found that if I carefully cut the wood so that they wedge themselves into the top of the bottom sash against the finger ledge of the top sash that both windows are tight and secure. That's how I suggest securing the windows since the accompanying clips might scratch the edges of the vinyl windows. So, this bracket worked beautifully for me! The caveat is that it may or may not work for you. If in doubt, buy one and test it. Amazon's generous return policy should let you return it if it doesn't work.

I bought it for security because my a/c sits in a window over my balcony with ground access. Had to return mine, the clamps do not fit standard window tracks or the average window a/c. I ended up just directly screwing the a/c into the window frame.

We live in an older home that we are renovating and we recently had vinyl double hung windows installed. The home doesn't currently have central air and since we like to keep the bedrooms and living room cool we use window air units. However, this creates a security issue since the air conditioner is not secured to the sash with screws and could be pushed out. The AC Safe AC-702 Window AC Security Bracket solves this problem. It is easy to install and it is fairly secure - although I could move the air conditioner back and forth I was unable to push it out of the window. To install the security bracket, the window air conditioner was positioned properly in the window and the small u-shaped end of the bracket was placed over the upper flange (support bar) of the air conditioner. The window was then closed over the large u-shaped end of the bracket. Thin weather stripping was placed between the window sash and the upper flange of the air conditioner to seal the small gap (due to the thickness of the bracket). The bracket was secured to the flange of the air conditioner by tightening the provided bolt through the bottom hole. The bolt wasn't overly tightened since it essentially prevents the bracket from sliding too much forward and back. (I didn’t use the bolt in the top hole since the air conditioner flange was too high.) Although the bracket looks to be a bit loose, it can’t be removed and the air conditioner can’t be pushed out of the window unless the bottom sash is raised. The provided window locks didn't work for my windows, so I used the Windobully Window Lock to prevent the sashes from being raised or lowered. The combination of the AC Safe AC-702 Window AC Security Bracket and Windobully Window Lock makes it very difficult to remove the air-conditioner from the outside of the house. It is certainly more secure that the traditional method of using two small screws to attach the accordion side panels of the air conditioner to the sash.

Both items work as stated, however the window "locks" as many reviews noted are a bit small. That being said all you need to do is use something (screw driver/pliers) to pry the gap open a bit and they'll work just fine. Gave it 4 stars due to the lack of ease of installation. Will order more for my other windows.
