It works.
I am handicapped and do not go up or down stairs unless I can grip something on both sides. I have occasionally gone up or down a few steps with a single railing sideways. My brother's house has 3 steps and no railings and I have a lot of difficulty getting in and out. This walker allows me to go up and down those steps and feel very confident, as I have both hands on the walker and can help myself go up with my weak legs and feel safe. It is the same going down, but I am just getting use to looking down and am still a little nervous. It is very important to learn how to adjust the legs. It is not that difficult, but there are a few steps (pardon the pun) you have to go through and you need to be reasonably careful. One very important thing, for your safety, is to make sure the wheels are up. Also, it weighs, 11.9 lbs, according to the specs here. I am not too strong, but I can handle that weight. I have only used this to go up and down a max of 4 stairs, but I think I could use it for more, but do not need to, as I have a chair for the stairs in my house.I think the statement on its description on amazon that it has a "Self-Adjusting Stair Assist" is misleading, as you have to do things to get it set to go up or down stairs. I would remove the word "Self" and just state that yo can fairly easily adjust, while using it, to go up and down stairs. Once it is set for a stair you need not adjust it again, assuming all the stairs are the same and are level, until you reach the landing or ground. I do not think it will work safely if the stairs are not level.

The Best Thing I Have Purchased Ever!
I am not affiliated with this product, nor am I paid to write this review. This is a review from the heart because Roami changed life for my husband and myself. My husband had lost the strength and stability to climb the five steps in and out of our 1920's bungalow. I had to called 911 Lift Assistance every time he had to leave the house to go to the doctor or hospital. We were planning on boxing up our home and renting a flat one story house. We are both in our 70's and moving was overwhelming. Right before Father's Day, I was on Amazon searching for a gift for my husband when I saw the Roami for the first time. I quickly ordered and prayed this would be the answer to our mobility issues. When it arrived, we had a small problem and called customer support. The person who answered the phone was not a customer service representative but the actual creator and manufacturer of Roami. He stepped away from his time with his family and personally walked us through what we needed to know. I've never experienced a manufacturer who cares this much about the people who buy his product! Roami has changed our lives. We no longer have to move. Not only can my husband easily maneuver up and down our five stairs. he now travels up the twenty stairs to our son's upstairs when we have a room when we visit. I frequently take my husband to the Houston Medical Center for visits with multiple doctors. We never enter a clinic or hospital without physicians, nurses and physical therapists stopping us to inspect the Roami. Everyone is astounded by the Roamie. Even the gentlemen in valet parking have to stop and check out how it works. Not everyone remembers my husband's name, but they always remember him when they see him walking in on his Roami. By the way, we haven't had to use a wheelchair for transport to medical visits since our Roami arrived. I don't know if there is an award for best invention of the decade, but I would definitely nominate the Roami for that honor! It offers excellent design in sporty, classy colors. And I cannot say enough about the customer service from the manufacturer. I hope this changes your life as much as it has changed ours!

NOT a good idea for uneven steps
Could work for SAME SIZE steps AND if you have good hand strength and coordination. In our scenario we need dad to climb a short step from the garage floor and then one more step slightly higher than the first into the house. The video makes it look easy that you can change the angle and keep moving. I didn't find that to be the case for me (I'm in my 50s) so certaintly it won't be that easy for dad in his 90s. Basically, the right and left handles have an orange button and a release handle. 2 buttons, both handles have to be depressed ALL AT THE SAME TIME for mechanism to be released and adjusted. Only then can you even the angle to go forward .. that's alot to do to while at the top of stairs very bad idea for anyone who could lose their stability or need to transfer to a wheel chair. Do not recommend for elderly who have had a stroke, balance issues or suffer weakness in joints of hands. It might work as a walker as a moving handrail for steps that have no rails. But again, for someone with the hand strength and coordination to adjust the angle of the mechanism once you reach the top or bottom. I can see this walker helping someone with bad knees as it makes the lift or drop very easy.I was really hoping this would be our solution after all the great reviews but in our case it didn't take but an hour for me to realize it was a bad idea and get it back in the box and back to Amazon. While it wasn't going to work for my 92-year-old dad I can definitely see this helping people who are younger
