My kit did not come with needles... how do I go about getting them?

Needles should have been included. You could buy them on your own at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. Or contact the seller

Are the instructions clear and would the mushroom one be a good beginner set for middle school since it includes the stitch sampler?

Not clear enough for a beginner. The stitch sampler was fun to do but the u tube video wasn't great there are better ones. Quality of kit,fabric thread and hoop are very nice

What is the size of the design? Would an 8" wooden hoop be good for display, or will that be too large?

Fun easy craft

Beginner embroidery person over here and I found this kit super easy and educational. I liked the videos they linked to show how to do each stitch and the templates they included for practice. It's been a really relaxing hobby so far (expecially for someone who likes crafts a lot but isn't especially artistic, the outlines feel like cheating but I don't care)

Needles are too small

Came with tiny needles that don’t fit the yarn through the top hole..

Great for a beginner

Everything you need is included. It was my first project after just practicing stitches and this had three projects. It was fun and relaxing to do with clear instructions and a link to their great YouTube video to help even though there is a written explanation of the stitch. Hi quality materials with numbered cotton included. I’m so happy this was my first embroidery project, I now have confidence to try something else.
