Works great!
Great little took to sharpen all those dull knives in the drawers. I have also used it to sharpen a few pairs of scissors. It has got a few different slots for different thickness of knives. Quality is great, and it's very portable. It takes a bit to get used to , but it is easy to use.

Pleased with both scissor and knife sharpening performance.
I had modest expectations as I typically sharpen my woodworking tools, and my knives, with diamond stones - and this is a LOT cheaper option. But I didn't like sharpening scissors, so I gave this a shot. To date, it has worked well in bringing some old "dull as can be" scissors back to life, and also worked well on a few pair that were already in pretty good shape. As for the knife sharpening feature, it does reasonably well unless you must have or just want the absolute highest quality edge. The results have been far more than adequate for a pocket knife, and I also sharpened a few dull kitchen knives as well. Some knives required only a few swipes on the fine edge, but it also worked well on others that required a bit of work on the coarse edge first. It is easy to use and can work for both left and right handed scissors. Just remember to use the correct side depending on the orientation of your scissors (it is clearly marked, I just didn't pay attention the first swipe). While it is all plastic, the sharpener feels sturdy. The black rubber gives you the right amount of grip, and while I am no hiker, I think the plastic handle/clip mechanism combined with the tacky black rubber would keep it where you intended, even on the outside of your pack or if clipped to other gear. My only complaint (minor) is that it feels a little awkward when you sharpen scissors. Assuming you hold the scissors in your right hand as would be expected for those who are right handed, you have to hold the sharpener in your left, which means you are holding the "leg" with the sharpening mechanism when in use. It feels as if it would have been perfect if the left and right handed scissors sharpener configuration were reversed. That said it just took a few swipes to get comfortable - and not many more to finish the job. I am pleased with the purchase and my wife likes it as well. She was a little scared to sharpen scissors or knives, but feels safe using this tool. We would recommend it to others who do not need a surgical quality edge. I suspect I will be using it more often than not for all of our scissors, and almost all of our knives.

Excellent 2-Stage Sharpener with Smith's Quality! Works On Scissors, Too!
The Smith's Jiffy-Pro is a truly great knife sharpener! Makes it easy to sharpen and maintain a variety of blades safely and conveniently, even if you've never sharpened your own knives before! It's easy to use and really does give your knives (and scissors) a proper, sharp cutting edge without the hassle of traditional sharpeners and expensive stones! Benefits: 1) Combines the best features of both draw-over and pull-through style sharpeners. 2) Large enough for easy and safe handling, but small enough to be convenient for many uses. 3) Offers true 2-stage sharpening to repair blades in any condition 4) Integrated scissor sharpener in handle is worth the price alone 5) Durable construction, lightweight and ergonomic design 6) Great value compared to nearly any other sharpener! Cons: NONE! Well, maybe that there aren't more color options. The 2-stage design is perfect for most knife-sharpening duties around the home or shop. The carbide blades are highly effective at cleaning up a rough edge, while the ceramic rods offer a finishing touch for maximum sharpness and help maintain the blades on recently sharpened knives. All in all, this is probably the best bang-for-the-buck sharpener available anywhere and it's backed by Smith's world famous reputation for quality sharpening utensils. Highly recommended! TIP: When maintaining a blade, it's best keep the blade finished with occasional use of the ceramic rods. This will help your blade last longer and deliver better performance than letting it go completely dull and having to do the 2-stage process over again. When sharpening, allow the blade to glide through the sharpener without adding pressure. It may require an additional draw or two to get the edge as sharp as you want, but your blade will last longer and so will the sharpening inserts.

Do not use on expensive knives!
Works great for extremely dull knives. It will give them a pretty sharp edge but looking closely you'd be able to see that the blade is very rough and chipped. It cuts just fine but shortens the blade's life. It works great for pocket knives, hunting knives and cheap kitchen knives. I sharpen my good knives with a finer whetstone that keeps my edge smooth. I finish with a strop for a shaving sharp edge. Update 11/6/17: I added 2 pictures showing how is my edge after using this sharpener (Rachel Ray Chef Knife). The honing ceramics rods (white) on it works fine, but the Carbide blades (gray) are too harsh and will remove too much metal and eventually damage your edge. I found a better sharpener that does a pretty good job putting a decent edge on my knives, the Lansky 4 rod turn box knife sharpener. They have it here on Amazon (~$16 for the 4 ceramic rods one). It's fast, doesn't require much skill and concentration and works well for moderately dull knives. Both type of rods on it are ceramic and as long as you keep them clean, they will give you a sharp smooth edge. Strop 5 times each side for razor sharp edge. Whetstone is always better, but requires more time and much more skill. Update 6/7/18: To minimize the damage to your blade, you'd want to swipe it through with minimal pressure. It seems to work best that way to maintain your blade's sharpness without damaging it.

Excellent quality and gives super sharp edge
I have the Accusharp knife sharpener and it is a very convenient and functional tool. This one is 2 steps up from that. Pros: 1. Build quality - This really looks and feels like a heavy duty tool. It feels expensive and durable. It does not look like cheap plastic. 2. Tungsten Carbide sharpener - It lays down a very good base edge. It is not ragged nor does it ruin your knife. It took out a small nick on my Kershaw Blur. 3. Ceramic fine sharpener - This feature makes this tool even better. Once you have a good base edge from the Carbide, take a few swipes and it will create a smooth fine and sharp edge. This is what the Accusharp does not have. 4. Scissor sharpener is easy to use as well. Just squeeze the sharpener between the ends of the scissors and just push the baldes forward a few times and you are done. 5. The Handle is very useful in that it open so that you can hook it on your bag or pant pocket for ease of carry. 6. The instructions that come with the Sharpener is very clear and easy to follow. Cons: 1. I wish they had this in different sizes for large or tiny knives. Summary: More features than the Accusharp and better made. A must buy for any home.
