Signal Processing and Linear Systems

Not bad, but seems like it's for those who are already experienced in the subject
This book was required for my continuous time signals and analysis class in college. Having never been exposed to FFTs, convolution and the impulse response etc, this book seems not well suited for beginning students in the subject like I was. And even the solution manual for this book will sometimes say, the answer is trivial and wont show how to do it........ In my class there were 72 students and 80% of us really struggled (the professor taught straight from he book). If you are already familiar with the subject then this shouldn't be a problem. But for me I bought a few other signal processing books and they honestly taught me more and helped me understand it better than this one did.

One of the best books
This was one of the best books while studying the subject back in my ECE days. To be honest I don't remember much from the class however I do remember that this book saved my butt on many occasions as the TA was useless and we could not understand what he was saying. Much of the time was spend reading and learning from this book.

just nice
this book is realy nice, i liked because of its clear explanations and the mathematics amount is just right.this subject could get mathematically ugly very easily if the author isn't careful.the illustrations included are also very helpful.i gave this book 4 stars, because is simply didn't reach the 5 stars bar for another book i bought;written by Jack Golten "understanding signals and systems" it is rather is an introduction to the subject but it is realy inspiring and should be on the top of all books on this subject, i'm very sorry to write about another book while reviewing lathi's book, my main moral is to benifit students who want to understand the subject by hinting about another Guru Master.

Clear explanations, but NOT good organization
I agree that this book is clear. However, the chapter organization is NOT systematic. For example, it teaches DFT before DTFT.Also, the digital part assumes you already learned analog part. This means that when you need look up digital part, you need to read analog part as well, which is NOT convenient.I would suggest Continuous and Discrete Time Signals and Systems with CD-ROM by Mandal. This has much better organization and still clear.

Enthusiastic 5 star rating!
This book is perfect for self-study. The explanations are the clearest I have seen. The worked examples are completely explained. Solutions to selected problems are given in the back of the book.I bought 4 texts for the purpose of educating myself in "Signals and Systems".1. Signal Processing & Linear Systems(Lathi) 2. An Introduction to Circuit Analysis(Scott) 3. Signals & Systems(Cont. & Discrete - Ziemer) 4. Signals & Systems(Oppenheim & Willsky)While each of these texts has it's strengths, none of them explains things as clearly as Lathi. He is truly a gifted author.

Well organized text with practical examples and problem sets
My work includes both continuous and discrete time linear system design. I taught with this book for more than 10 years. I now use it as a reference and still find opportunity to teach/refresh concepts within the design team. Lathi provides a solid mathematical foundation to development concepts.

Got it in time!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I know it’s rental book but before I am going to use it, I would like to show how it looks like when I receive i today. There is a lot of damage an the book and some of the pages are ripe off.

Four Stars
As with all text books some of the ways they state solutions and examples are hard to understand
