The light seems well made and I think is all stainless steel apart from the cable clips - looks good. I compared it to a similar sort of thing in Ikea, and this Daylight one is better quality... the Ikea one was around £55 but with no bulbs, and you get 2 with the Daylight one, so I'm OK with the price too. It is a little tricky to screw the base and top half together first time - maybe easiest to screw the base on first then rest the pole on your lap to screw the top piece in - easier with two people so you dont drop it all! The flex is a reasonable length.I'd perhaps like it to go a bit taller, but it is a good height for reading. The light is gives looks blue to start with compared to 'normal' lights, and a little odd, especially with other lights on in the room... but my eyes got used to it in a minute or so of looking at a book, and after that it seemed fairly normal.Other people in your room my find it a bit strange, but you can adjust the height to minimise the light spilling into the rest of the room a bit.The main thing is that it does seem to have made reading much easier - and I don't think it is just the brightness, the colour of the daylight bulb seems to make the text sharper for my fairly normal but rather tired eyes - so I'm very happy with it, it does what I bought it for!The drop of 1 star is for not having a slightly taller pole, and a slightly longer gooseneck to make it more over head - these maybe rather personal to me though.

First off - I was amazed at the speed of delivery. Ordered on Sunday evening and delivered on Tuesday - pretty impressive! Packaging was good and everything was there and undamaged. I had no trouble at all putting it together. The base is good and heavy and the general construction is sturdy and not unattractive in my living room.The light, when I first switched it on, seemed excessively bright. However, I quickly got used to it and it doesn't seem so bright now. It will light up a fair bit of the room though, so could be a problem for other people in the room (but not for me). That said, it is a good "clean" light, not a glaring one. I can now read small print and do crosswords and sudokus - which was becoming a problem with the pathetic light from modern lightbulbs. The light swivels and adjusts pretty well too.Overall, I am very happy with it and would have given it 4.5 stars if that was possible. The reason for not giving it 5 stars is really just about the price. It is a good solid lamp, but I think it is just a little expensive.

I am extremely pleased with this lamp, which is much superior to the one I had before. It is well made, very heavy and solid, and with a lovely bright light. Th e bulb is also easily replaceable. I thoroughly recommend it.

Good product.

The 20W bulb is perhaps too bright for normal reading as it lights up the entire room, however, when placed at a distance it makes reading a pleasure and takes a lot of strain off the eyes. I think i will get the 11W bulb which I think will better suit my needs.I read reviews on amazon but ended buying direct from the from RNIB for £75 which was much cheaper than others offering the same lamp.It arrived the next day.

As a jeweller I've used a daylight lamp for years and then realised that I could also do with a larger version for when I'm working on my other projects. This is ideal - I use it in my lounge for those more leisurely crafts e.g. knitting that I tend to do in the evening with the tele on. The daylight bulb means I no longer get eye strain and also can work accurately. The lamp is easily angled to a useful position and well worth the money. I'd already bought one for my 86 year old Mum who had been recommended to buy one by her optician to help when she's reading and that's exactly what it does for her.an excellent buy and an excellent seller.

Very very pleased with this light. I was not looking for fashionable just to be able to see. Our whole house has gone to energy saving bulbs, the whole house is dark, i feel like I need a head torch, but not with this light it's fantastic, wanted to be able to read,sew, cross stitch knit in fact just see in my house, it did make me smile when it arrived with labels on it about being appropriate for the blind. Don't think I am blind but these modern energy bulbs make me think so. It's also an instant light I don't have to wait 30 mins before I can see in the room.My husband keeps using it too but it's light enough for us both to share it

Delivered quickly and well packed. It is a well made lamp, sturdy and easy to assemble. I like the flexible neck - ideal for reading or knitting etc. It gives a very good light and I am considering buying a less powerful bulb. My only very slight criiticism is that I'd find it more useful if it were just a little taller. However I much prefer it to the Father and Child style lamp I had that broke in the middle while it was being moved. This one has no joind like that and feels much stronger when you move it. I like it !!
