This splint is the best...so far!
I have had 3 other splints for L thumb arthritis and bone spur including one made by occ. health but nothing has been as good as this one. I like it because it can get wet, has ventilation, and is low profile while still stabilizing my thumb very well. I bought a medium which was a size up for me so I could put it over my planting and yardwork glove. I was so impressed that I just ordered a small to wear when not in gloves. I can't yet speak to how durable it will be over time or to some reviews about the velcro strap shredding but I like it so much that I can replace the strap when needed. I may even get another small one and add an undersleeve or do a little modification at the wrist to wear while golfing! I may also update this review after using it more to speak about durability.

Don’t let other reviews drive you off, this thing is great!
I almost didn’t get this because of some of the other reviews and high return rate. I’m so glad I trusted my gut. I was wearing a moderate support thumb brace for my torn UCL (think fabric + Velcro, with metal splints inside) and while it was certainly better than nothing, my thumb was not immobilized enough & didn’t seem like it was healing (no decrease in pain or improvement in function). I also had to take it off to bathe (not ideal, I need 24/7 support). After a week in that, I found this hard splint and it is perfect. My MCP cannot budge in this thing. It is supportive with or without the undersleeve, though I prefer the snugger fit with it on. Also used a bit of the included foam tape to make it snugger on the thumb. It’s waterproof and I bathe and swim with it on (sans undersleeve) & the plastic isn’t cutting into me in any way. I’ve worn it for 3 wks straight & the undersleeve is not fraying (I’ve machine washed it twice!). My pain is greatly reduced & my thumb mobility is increasing, I can tell my UCL is healing. Reading other reviews, I can’t help but think some folks are having a bad fit because they didn’t measure & buy the right size. I still wear my softer brace for sleeping some nights, but I have slept in this one as well & it’s not much difference in comfort. I honestly prefer waking to the firmer, more rigid support. Makes me more confident I won’t accidentally move the joint in my sleep. Really great product for UCL tears, highly recommend!

Great glove, terrible strap
To seller: If your device has a video for straps falling off, maybe it's time to re-engineer your straps. I used VELCRO Brand VEL-30792-AMS 15 Inch Elastic Straps and it works great. To buyer: I had a UCL complete tear in my thumb from a bad motorcycle crash 1 year ago. I'll need to wait another year before surgery. This glove is wonderful and gives me my strength back in my hand. I strongly recommend it to anyone with skiers thumb or gamekeepers thumb.

Be aware of design flaws.
I bought this in a small for my right hand. Dealing with some bone on bone action from arthritis in my CMC joint. When this arrived, I was overjoyed at the fit. It was perfect. But, I have to point out some rather big design flaws.1. The top of the opening for the small brace strap that goes around the wrist was broken upon arrival. I noticed it and thought it wouldn’t matter. After wearing the brace for a few days lightly. I realized it did matter. I toyed with idea of returning it. Then decided to just super glue the break. It broke again immediately after I put the brace on 2 days after glueing and clamping it. Figured after doing this, I voided any return.🤷🏻♀️2. The plastic around the brace end on the thumb is uncomfortable. It needed to be rounded out. The edge of the plastic not only required the under sleeve to be worn, but I had to apply moleskin as well, which made it fight a little tighter than I liked..3. Speaking of the under sleeve, it started to unravel after the first time I wore it. Now, I was just wearing it around the house or to run errands. Wasn’t using that hand to lift or anything really since I’m left handed thankfully.I ordered 2 more of the under sleeves in hopes that the first was just a random faulty one. Not so! The two new ones unraveled just as easily. The idea of this brace is very good, but the maker needs to go back to the design and fix those flaws. They make this unusable and after spending over $50 for the brace and the two extra sleeves, I’m not very happy with the product.Try rounding those hard edges, hemming the undersleeves properly, and putting in some kind of extra support where the notch opening is near the thumb base, and then sell your product. As it is, I could bought a couple more futuro thumb spica braces that work, albeit, not as securely, but at least they last.Which is why I give this a one star rating.
