Great chamfer/round over plane
Surprisingly nice plane. With the exception of the plastic cover this plane is all metal, aluminum body, steel cutters and adjustment mechanism.Like any plane you need to plane in the correct orientation to the grain or the plane will dig in. The grain is almost never parallel to the edge. Cutting one direction will cause the cutter to follow the grain and dig in. Simply reduce the direction of the cut ( right to left to left to right or vice versa) and the cutter will not dig in.You also need to take lite cuts and advance the cutter a small amount (-1/4 turn) each pass. I found the plane capable of cutting the hardest wood without issue.People that complained about the cutter moving were probably cutting into the grain or trying to cut the full radius or chamfer in a single pass. This is a nice tool and well worth the price.

Works great, well built
This works great, and is very solidly built. Some reviewers commented that the depth screw can slip. I haven't had that issue with mine. It stays at the desired depth. I would buy this again, if needed (or recommend to family/friends).

Not sure about this one
I'm going to have to experiment with it more. So far I haven't been able to get it to cut well. I have always wanted a small radius hand plane so I don't have to get a router out at work to put on a 1/16th or 1/8th round over. But I haven't been able to set this up where it won't gauge the wood. I am dealing with hardwoods like White Oak 90% of the time. I feel like I should be able to get this to work....

Blades will not retract?
Received my #70748 plane set today, ordered from Amazon.I an unable to completely retract any of the four included blades. When I insert a blade, I can retract it only so far until the thumb wheel will not turn any further but, blades are still about 3/16" beyond the bottom of the V base. When received, the 45° chamfer blade was installed but, not fully retracted.Am I doing something wrong .. or is this plane defective?EDIT .. after further inspection I determined that the 45° chamfer blade was installed upside down at the factory. Once I installed the 1/4" round over blade properly .. it worked well. I will however, lightly hone the blades before using on my present project.

Would not recommend this product
I wanted a plane to relieve edges on my drawer fronts. I thought this looked like a nice product and because of the brand name I purchased it. Upon using the plane I noticed that I could adjust the blade just to take off a small slice of wood off the corner. I then noticed that at times it would then seem to loose adjustment and gouge the wood. Looking at the blade I saw that there was movement of the blade which changed the angle of the blade which caused the gouging of the wood. There was no adjustment for this movement since it was obvious that the slot machined in the plane to house the blade had not been machined accurately hence allowing movement of the blade during use. I returned the plane.

Heavy construction simple blade storage and change, finish cut could be better
This is fairly simple to use and change the blades, the extra blades store in the handle area on this. The plane is sturdy and appears to be one solid metal assembly. The finger knob works decently and takes many turns to change the blade but the blade depth seems somewhat coarse to adjust. Tried a few blades and work decently but really only works well going in the direction of the grain, if run on the end of the grain it seems to chip. Overall nice to use though wish the adjustment was a little more refined perhaps with a gauge too.
