Best option - IF you don't want to pay for a subscription service.Doorbell Interface:Recommend using a beefy 16VAC transformer if you don't already have on installed. Upon installation, the LaView doorbell causes my transformer to "hum" from the load. The doorbell transformers are not designed to be continuously loaded AND be quiet at the same time. A typical doorbell usually has a small load from the doorbell light... not enough current to cause an noticeable hum. My fix, place the transformer on rubber mounts to help reduce the hum vibrations.Wifi Interface:The wifi setup is a little quirky. The key is good WiFi signal. The problem most people have with most of these doorbells is there wifi signal is weak outside of the house. The internal antenna on these doorbells required a stronger signal than other devices. If you're having issues connecting, make sure have a WiFi access point near by.Doorbell Function: LaView Doorbell works as designed. It rings my doorbell and sends me notification within 3 secs of the doorbell being pushed! Note: If you're looking to buy one of these doorbells to answer the door, no doorbell on the market does this function well enough to worth the money. There will always be a delay. Unless you have your phone in your hand, the app up and running, there will be easily 20 seconds before you're able to send a response to the doorbell.Camera Function: The camera is a re-branded HikVision camera. I have several HikVision cameras on my security system and I love them. They are rock solid cameras... of course... made in China like 99% of all the other cameras. For my lighting conditions and camera setup, the camera performs well day and night. I have no complaints. I can clearly see faces... at night, there is the usual night vision gray scale.Synology Surveillance Station Interface: Here's where the LaView earns the stars! If you have a NVR/ NAS security system (like Synology Surveillance Station) this camera interfaces with the system just like any other ONVIF camera would. This means... no subscription... store you videos on your own device and not in the cloud. A++Overall: The only issue I have experience, after a year of use, the Micro SD card in the doorbell died. SD cards have limited read/write cycles and I apparently reached the limit after a year. Easy fix, popped out the old SD card and placed in a $10 new one. This is not a flaw of the doorbell camera. In theory since the videos are stored on the Surveillance Station, I don't need the SD card... I just never bothered to test out the theory. I'm able to access video recordings remotely from the doorbell app or remotely through my security system app.

I started yesterday installing the Remo. I read the reviews on Amazon. One gentleman informed the reader that you must follow the directions to the letter. Do not jump ahead. He was so right! The instructions and diagrams are not the easiest to read. The chime part took two attempts at installation. The company gave extra pieces because there are two ways to install them. Then came the outside door part, which was more straightforward.I tried to connect to the software and found online that I needed to place my router on 2.46 GHz. Okay—done (after a few hours of figuring out how I could achieve this).Every time I tried to connect, I would find their network, switch back to my router, the app crashed. I picked up the instruction book and saw that the faceplate and security screws should not be on. I removed the faceplate and stood outside to connect. It did it! A voice told me it was connected.Every time I tried to connect to the video doorbell to their network, and follow the instructions to switch back to my router, the app crashed. I picked up the instruction book and saw that the faceplate and security screws should not be on. Once I removed them, I stayed outside to connect. It did it! A voice from the bell told me it was connected.I'm happy to say it works. Here are my two plusses.1. My mechanical chime wouldn't ring before unless you hard-poked it with a finger. Now it works great with each ring. And,2. I could not use the door's peephole without a step-ladder. Now, I can see a face from anywhere I am.I gave four stars because of the difficulty in installation. I can't answer about the Night Vision or Motion detection yet— but I can tell you that I don't think Tech support exists. (Not for the seller - for Remo) Their phone number has a recording letting the listener know they have moved and an email address to reach them. Earlier today, I wrote to that email address. I still have not heard back. All and all, I am glad it's up and working.

Never worked properly - Feels like a quality product, but the App is poor and very limited and they would stay connected.
I bought two of these cameras, one for the front door and one for the side. door. After several tries, and having to reset the front door camera, I finally got it to connect. The side door, my router wasn't strong enough so I had to used a WIFi repeater to get it to connect. Again after several failed attempts and resets, I got it to connect. (More on this later.)Based on little time that they actually worked, there were other issues that anyone interested in buying this camera should consider: - For my setup, my doorbell is right next to a 90 degree brick wall. With the cameras wide angle the wall was more than half the picture... It would be nice if the camera was aim-able. - At night the wall was lit up and was over exposed and could not see anything else. - During the day, my front porch is covered cove and anyone walking up to the front door would just be a silhouette when they got close. - One big issue is that when the camera is offline, the doorbell doesn't work!Other reviewer also mentioned that the motion sensor was too sensitive.... I agree one hundred percent - inside the first hour I received over 50 notifications, and shortly after, just ended up shutting off the push notifications. After four days of intermitted function, and having to reset and reconnecting I started to think I was having router issues. I have been meaning to update my router anyway, so I bought a high-end Linksys router, that is strong enough for my neighbors to connect. It took two days for the router to arrive, in the meantime they still worked half the time. Today, after router set-up, I have repeatedly tried and tried, but now they won't connect at all so I am throwing in the towel. I have uninstalled them and will be dropped off tomorrow to return to Amazon. One other thing to note that when I uninstalled them, they were very warm to the touch. I'm so sad... I really wanted them to work.
