Introductory Geographic Information Systems (Prentice Hall Series in Geographic Information Science)

This isn't a review of the text itself, but the way the book was uploaded into Kindle format. You cannot change the font, the font size, or the background color, as it is uploaded more as a PDF than a kindle book.So, we wasted $29 on the rental and ended up having to order the real book to get school work done.

Get ready to spend some time reading and re-reading, this is a heavy undertaking. Must be read from the beginning to understand the concepts that are discussed later in the book. I tried to read Chapter 9; Statistic and Spatial Data Measurements, and I was in over my head. LOL

Lots of good discussion and graphics supporting major ideas of GIS. Sure would be great if there were solid, real-world exercises that connect the theory to well-understood geographic phenomena.

GIS is technology for today and the future. It is adaptable and flexible. A lot of room for creativity.

This is the book you want when you want all the information in one place. Where your professor fumbled in lecture or maybe it just went over your head. This book is great for grasping it all. I've had it for almost 3 years and still go back to double check this because it's more certain that googling for the answer. Heads up, the book is pretty "thin." Don't be alarmed. It's great value and there's no frilly place holder chapters. Invest if you're a geospatial person, or if you're jumping into Remote Sensing with no GIS background.
