YAMAHACD-C603 5-Disc CD Changer with USB Playback

I received the item as promised overnight. It was in perfect condition, new in box. I hooked it up to a 25+ year old Yamaha tuner which is hooked up to a Bose Surround sound system. I haven't had a working CD player in a while and forgot how great it sounds. This is a really nice unit. Replaced a Sony multi disk player. Seems like it will be simpler to use.

So far so good. I join other reviewers in complaining that the remote cannot be read without a flashlight and magnifying glass; but the functions will be memorised in time. Tray is opening and closing reliably. I am a fussy listener, and the deck, with DAC, seems to operate flawlessly. No skipping or hiccups.

This is at least the fifth CD player I have owned, not including automobile units and a Sony DiscMan. The last three have all been 5- or 6-disk changers that allow you to change disks while one is still playing. This unit is the best of the three. It seems to work very well and sounds fine. Unlike the others, all the “non-playing” disks are accessible, so you don’t have to push a button to get all the disks changed.I took off a star for the very hard to read remote. Like many remotes, the contrast between the letters/numbers and the background is poor, and the letters are very small. Also the remote lacks a way to select a specific disk. It's very annoying to have to skip through disk by disk to find the desired one.

I was thrilled to receive my Yamaha CD 603 (5 - CD) player. That thrill didn't last long. The second time I tried to play a CD, the CD tray would not open. The display continuously said "loading". After countless attempts at getting the tray to open, I contacted Yamaha support. Fortunately, I had kept the original shipping box which I had to use to send the unit to Tap Electronics for repair. They returned the unit in a few days. Again, it lasted for one day, then exhibited the same issues as before. A second time, after contacting Yamaha support, I sent the unit back to Tap Electronics. This time, they kept it for a couple weeks while awaiting parts. Ultimately, after a couple of weeks, I received it back in (apparently) good working order. Unfortunately, a "special" CD which had be stuck in the unit was returned cracked. When I questioned the circumstances, I found out that the CD ended up underneath the CD tray inside the unit. A belt was broken, as well a a gear and several other parts. The description of the damage sounded like a train-wreck inside the unit. I have contacted Yamaha regarding this experience and my damaged CD but have heard nothing from them. I'm very dubious regarding the future performance of this CD player. It set a record by working normally for 4 days now. I'll update this report if anything else occurs.

Great disc changer, although it seems a little expensive. The other 2 changers---there are not many choices!---all seem to have problems with the mechanism sticking etc. I have had no problems in the couple of months I have used it.

For someone who has a substantial number of CD's, and has wanted a dedicated player for awhile, this has met my needs. I tried an Onkyo player a couple years ago, and this is worth the extra cost. I still purchase CD's and appreciate the ability to load a number of discs and have it play for quite some time.

Yamaha manufactures the best electronic equipment. Highly recommended!

Buen sonido, nada que decir, pero no tiene muchas opciones en la pantalla para ver cuantos temas tiene el cd su totalidad si se pausa se apaga automáticamente y después hay que volver desde cero... hay funciones que equipos antiguos de la competencia si tenían
