Big sander and very powerful
Solid piece of kit. Neighbour borrowed it to sand a table top. Took him minutes . Highly recommend but re it is a fair size. Loads of spare belts. May start buying more of this maker.

great quality for the price,
works very well, sturdy construction , easy to use , quite loud when in use use ear defenders , used this to remove varnish from pine bookcase, removes varnish easily using 80 grit belt, so far very happy with the purchase, tried to sign up for the 2yr extended warranty on the vanhaus site but it wouldn't recognise the product code, the process of registration is not straightforward and could be made easier this is quite misleading to offer extended warranty and not be able to meet the registration requirements to get the cover, hence 4 stars only , otherwise all good

Broke 15mins after using
Bought this last year but due to the project I bought it for being outside and the weather turned bad, then I have never gotten round to using it till now (about 6 months later). After approx 15mins use it stopped altogether and suddenly. Because I was too late to return it (after the 30 day period) I took it apart. The plastic insulation on the core of the stator (on the motor) had melted onto the rotor and smeared it across the inner side of the stator. The motor will no longer work and there is no obvious fix with out a replacement motor. This is a shame as the sander worked really well before this. Powerful and compact enough to get into the parts I needed to sand on my boat. £40 down the drain for 15mins work.

nice Machine
Nice Machine , works well , dust is taken care of , and it does fit the vacuum cleanerI though the unit should be able to fit onto a bench with the 2 brackets suppliedbut NO ... one bracket fits into a slot The other one should fit into the handlewell it does not have a slot , so I have to use a G clamp [ which is not a problem ]a bit more thought would have been better

Not all together satified with the quality
I have only used the band-sander for about 6 - 8 hours over three or four days. The photos included show damage caused while using the sander for its intended purpose. The photographs included above show the damage caused by normal usage and that the materials used in the manufacturing this tool may be substandard. After using the band sander for about 10 or 15 minutes, I began to notice some vibration and a tendency for the sander to jump and grab at the workpiece when I removed the cover plate to see if I could identify the I cause. I discovered that the plastic around the rear-drive (that acts as its bearing) has worn away, allowing the cog to move excessively demonstrated by the drive belt being slack (See Pic 1 & 2)Pic 3 shows a piece that will not stay in its place, it keeps falling off of the Machine.Pic 4-5-6 show that the sander band won't stay aligned & changing the alignment adjuster has no useful effect the sander belt has cut into the plastic. show the damage this has caused. (See Pic 7 & 8)

I would recommend paying a little more for a mainstream brand.
The design of this sander is good. Other than the motor cooling vent that blows dust right at your face. I've used it about 6 times and the drive roller spindle and bearings have disintegrated. So a good design badly let down by very poor components.

Good sander
Like other Von Haus tools which I have it seems pretty good for the money. It is quite noisy, especially when combined with dust extractor noise, but it does a good job of the sanding. I have bench mounted it using the supplied clamps and it works well with no problems.
