Can this board be attached to a wall?

Yes, I think you can attach it to a wall--the back base of the puzzle is wood. But are you sure you want to. . . you will have to not only put each bead, one at a time, into the "cups". You will also have to take each bead out of the cup, one at a time. Possibly attach hooks to the top of the puzzle so you could hang it on a wall and then take it off when you want.

Could you take this on an airplane?

I am not familiar with air travel, but this item has no loose pieces to get lost. Everything is attached (the magnetic "pencil") or sealed inside the wooden frame (the colored beads). And it entertains my 8 and 12 year old grandchildren for a long time. The beads do roll around inside the sealed board--if that sound would be bad on an airplane.
