I've had the paperback for a few weeks now, and I'm in no way affiliated with it, nor do I know the author... but it's a damn good book! While it's a book for 'beginners', it gives you all the tools necessary to get your chops together to build a real solid foundation. Then the sky is the limit!Each chapter goes step by step, with examples so it's not too complicated or daunting to start off. Put the hours of practice in and you can't go wrong. All the examples are clear, well explained, and comprehensive. The theory is laid out in a useful way too, definitely helping me get a better 'feel'.All in all, I'd highly recommend it to anyone whose looking to start out on drums, or to tighten up what you already know. The only caveat being that this is my one and only drum book, but it covers everything you'll need so maybe it's the only book that you need?!Massive thank you James, you've done a stellar job.

Great book for beginners.especially good for getting familiar with drum notes and base drum use.

Very comprehensive book for beginner drum enthusiasts. Notes, counting and sticking with every exercise.I already loved the YouTube channel of sight read drums and also this lessons book now. I'm a fan.

I teach the drums and have tried several ‘method’ books for beginner drummers, including those from the bigger publications. I have to say this is my favourite so far. It covers everything you need to know in a simple, logical order and is excellent for kids and adults alike to follow at their own pace for practice between sessions. You can also get the audio tracks and there is a great section at the beginning about setting up and tuning your kit, which a lot of the others don’t cover. Excellent book and great price point, I recommend it to all my students.
