So I ended returning this item, somewhat begrudgingly, because it had alot of things I really liked about it. However, there were just too many small issues that were too difficult to overcome.First, I do all my own video streaming and editing of live events that I host all across the US. I am currently using the Blackmagic ATEM Switchers, and I am looking for something a little more compact with a built-in screen. The problem with BlackMagic is that they have so many buttons that are either useless or unnecessary, making their device much larger than it needs to be.This Shark looked like a good option. In fact, it was the best option I tested, and I tested alot of them. First, the build quality is excellent. This is a little tank. I can imagine someone could use this for years without worrying about normal wear-and-tear and even a few drops. Next, it is extremely compact. It's quite a tiny little device considering what it does. As such, it's heavier than you'd expect. It's an all-steel case packed full of state-of-the-art stuff. It has an insane number of video inputs considering the overall footprint of this thing. The screen, buttons and switches are all quality. No issues there whatsoever.Now, when it comes to the software, it started to give me fits. One of the biggest issues I had was that I could never get the SDI inputs to work. HDMI no problem, but SDI nothing. I even emailed their support twice with no reply. Second, it would not recognize multiple displays from one video card. This is very odd. I connect two video outputs from my computer and use it as two separate video sources. It's works perfectly on the Blackmagic, but I could not get this to recognize the second video source from the same graphics card. Odd. This was a real show-stopper for me, as it effectively made my entire setup useless.Next, I was less than impressed with their chroma capability, which I use frequently. First, the settings, while quite extensive, never really got me the quality I was used to from the Blackmagic ATEM. They need to work on this. Additionally, when I would switch backgrounds, my green screen would disappear with it. In other words, if you are doing a newscast in front of a green-screen and want to change video sources in the background, you will disappear as well. Kinda defeats much of the purpose for a chromakey.I did love the fact that you can do alpha and logo separately. I also liked the easy-to-use settings. The layout was just short of perfect. It is also worth noting that I never had any heat related issues. The unit stayed very cool throughout.So while this is a very clever little unit, it still needs some refinement and needs MUCH better customer support. After multiple tries to get help, and not hearing back, I determined it's too expensive a purchase to not get help when you need it. Hope this review helps you make a good decision.
