This is a review of the natural wood slice 8-9”. It is an evenly cut slice of wood, half an inch thick, that lies flat. I like that it is not perfectly oval or round, which I think gives it character. You can see the trees rings and the nice looking bark still intact. I am not sure what type of wood it is (it wasn't specified) and it is not particularly aromatic. There wasn’t a whiff of fresh wood smell when opening the plastic covering, as I have with some other wood products. It is light weight, quite pretty and rustic looking. I ordered this wood round for crafting and I have so many ideas, I can’t wait to make holiday decorations with it.

My main point to select this wood slice was to use for product photography. It does look like the wood is a real slice from a tree, however it came shrink-wrapped, and there was a ring of slightly stick dust that I had to rub off with a damp cloth after removing the shrink-wrap which was disappointing. When the wood was wet it did give off a strong wet-wood smell that took time to dissipate, so it's definitely a wood slice, and the growth rings are apparent. I didn't like that the core of the slice was fixed with a 1-inch diameter plug, but maybe this is necessary for some reason. If something is set in the middle the core plug will not show. I took away a star because of the cost, the dust and the center plug. Had the slice been unified, without a plug in the center, and had it been more reasonable in price, I would have gladly given this a 5-star review. I still think the product has a good utility and I still plan to use it for my product photography.

This wood is clean with almost no scars or scratches or dents or anything. Which is great. I do a lot of woodburning and these are great slices of wood. They are a great size and they are from healthy wood. And the rings are not mushy and annoying. They pretty solid and I don't have to worry about big burn blotches on my pieces.

The wood slice looks great, especially with the bark edges. I plan to use mine in an outdoor fairy garden, so treated it with a wood preservative, which didn't discolor the natural wood. It's not perfectly round - nor should it be - & mine is 8" x 8.5" and a half-inch thick. Probably sturdy enough to withstand being dropped, but I don't know how it would hold up to having a nail or screw put through it. I prefer to decorate with what nature provides, even if I have to buy it. This item worked great for my purpose.

This slice of wood is okay, but I can't say much more about it. It looks like the pictures and it is fairly smooth. But it doesn't really impress me either. It is lightweight and nowhere does it say what kind of tree it comes from. Perhaps I'm cynical but it almost doesn't feel to me like it is a real slice from a real tree or tree branch. It looks a bit engineered.That said, it appears to be what it is advertised to be and it's a nice size. Depending what you want it for, I can imagine it having a number of possible uses for crafts. I haven't decided what I will do with mine. Right now I'm using it as a large coaster!I think the price is a bit high for one slice, particularly given that we don't know what type of wood it is. I think it might sell better sold a few in a pack. Knowing the type of wood can be helpful because some paints, stains, and other applications work better with some woods than others.

I’ve ordered a lot of wood slices. I use them to make plant shelves. These are not worth the price. They are such a lightweight wood and they dent easily. I prefer the ones that come in packs, they’re better quality and more for your money.

This wood slice can be used for decor as-is just as well as it could be used for painting on. I appreciate that it is cut level - some wood slices I've used in the past are either warped or cut slightly off level and that makes it hard to use for table decor when it will be underneath something. This is nice and level, and even though it does have quite a bit of texture to the surface (which can be seen in the close-up picture) this can be easily sanded with fine sandpaper to a smoother finish if desired. The texture is optimal for painting on as it will grab gesso very well. I plan to give mine a light sanding and finish with Danish oil to bring out the natural variations in the wood.
