Q: Is this basket food grade stainless steel?

I have had this steaming basket for almost two years. This is my most used steaming basket for the pressure cooker since it is the largest that I have and holds more food than any other steaming basket I have. When I am steaming veggies or mushrooms for freezing, I use it multiple times in one day, and, in the two years I have had it, I usually use it at least once per week. With all of this use, there is not one speck of rust on it. I have others in the past that have developed rust on them, but this one has not. It looks to me like stainless steel, but I should mention I have never put it in the dishwasher. For my uses, I just wash it by hand and dry it.

Q: Does this fit the 6 qt pot in the instant pot duo plus? my pot tapers in a little at the bottom and when i measure it is about 7".

Hello and thanks for the question. Yes, the basket will fit all 6qt, Instant Pot pressure cookers. The basket also has a taper to it and measures about 6.9" at the bottom.

Q: What is the mesh size for the basket. Can it hold small items like lentils or will they fall through?

If I had to guess, I would say no, probably not the best idea. They may not fall through but if they over cook in the least they could get pretty gloppy and I would not want to have to clean the mesh!

Q: Can I leave the handle on while it is steaming inside my Instant Pot?

Definitely!! I have the 8 quart size, and I use it more than any other basket I have. The handle is coated and doesn't seem to ever get too hot to pull it out of the PC. You can remove the handle if you want to, but I always leave mine on.
