Performs for its price.
It really works well, but I don’t turn the frequencies all the way up since it is possible they may create some unwanted distortion, which is expected with almost any analog frequency augmentation. For its size, price and multiple frequencies, can’t be beat. I use in my home gym sound system.

Noisy
This adds *a ton* of noise to its input signal, even at basically zero gain. Tolerable for my personal use case, but if you're planning to just run this thing straight out of your PC and into a pair of cans, expect disappointment.

Makes my home video theater roar!
I ordered this preamp / sound equalizer for use in my home video theater. My legacy video projector's cooling fan is very loud, the projector's built-in speaker is weak, and the projector's only other audio output is a 3.5 mm stereo earphone jack. I've been running the projector's earphone jack into a legacy AC-powered sound bar, but the projector earphone jack lacks sufficient volume to fully drive the sound bar. I'm using this preamp / sound equalizer between the video projector and the sound bar. At preamp mid volume the sound bar puts out good volume and I can crank up the bass during action films. At preamp full volume the sound bar is overdriven into distortion (i.e., the preamp provides ample controlled volume when USB-powered).The package contains the preamp / sound equalizer and a detachable USB power cord supplying 5 volts DC to the preamp. [The preamp power standard socket will accept up to 12 volts DC (presumably providing even high audio levels) from other DC sources.] There are no instructions and no audio cables but installation is easy. Stereo audio connections are either by rear panel phono jacks or by front panel 3.5 mm phone jacks; I used the rear panel phono jacks to keep the front panel cable-free. The detachable USB power cord plugs into the rear panel power socket and into a (not supplied) USB power socket; I observed no noticeable AC hum. The eight rotary controls on the preamp top panel control seven frequency bands plus master volume. A POWER pushbutton and POWER LED are located on the preamp front panel. Set the rotary controls mid-rotation and power it up for great stereo sound!

Useful studio gear
There are a lot of places I could put an EQ, more than just as a headphone amp, so this has a lot of potential applications. Right now it's set up after an effects processor that's running after an aux send from a mixer that has various synths going into it. I'm running RCA cables from the effects processor into the mixers tape input, because all the other inputs are taken up, and this EQ box gives me a handy volume control I wouldn't otherwise have. More than that, of course, is tone shaping from the 7 frequency bands. It's a decent array of frequencies, but of course with anything that isn't parametric, I'm left wishing they were at different frequency points. I also wish they'd cut more than they do. But as it is, it's still more control than I previously had, and that's still useful.

A Compact and Versatile EQ
I really like this little EQ. The "7 Band Sound Equalizer 2 Channel Audio Mixer Equalizer Digital Sound Equalizer" is a pretty useful little device. It can be used between a source such as an iPod, tablet, or computer and wired headphones. It can also be used as you would any EQ in your home music system or maybe because of its compact, lightweight size in a remote recording situation.I am currently using one of these in my stereo setup, mostly in conjunction with adjusting the sound to individual recordings. I have a sizeable collection of 78 rpm records which span the decades from the early 1900's to the 1950's. This little guy lets me adjust for the wide variation in recording quality, fidelity, and condition of the records but takes up very little space.I am powering this using an average quality, standard 5-volt USB plug transformer and have had no noise issues. The sound is surprisingly nice and clean. High quality sound and a very good price point.Again, as with so many USB powered devices, I wish the transformer was supplied with the unit, but I understand the economies of worldwide distribution where the same units are sold all over.In summary, I give this EQ a "thumbs up"!

Great little device.
If nothing else, this equalizer is a hole bunch of fun to use. I didn't notice any sound quality degradation and it allows me to fine tune my headphones to my liking. Is it as capable as digital EQ software on the computer? No, but it's absolutely more fun having the physical device in front of me.

Everyone should get one.
One of my favorite things I have gotten from Amazon.Material quality is kind of basic, but the function quality is good. Everything works and none of my knobs were bent.I use it with my desktop computer.Usually I change my EQ with Dolby Access, but this is easier, and I can use it with other devices. Not a replacement for Dolby Access because it does other things besides just EQ, but it does help me find my preferred sound profile. One of the first things I noticed was cranking the knobs up a lot will let you hear the imperfections or unwanted background noise in people's YouTube videos. Probably would work well for identifying footsteps in video games too. Although I have not tried that.If you are not satisfied with your speaker's sound characteristics or want a hardware solution to software EQ. Then I would recommend this.I actually recommend it anyway because it's fun to use.

Not the greatest but, does the job.
If it had free rotating knobs it would be better but they are jumpy when you adjust the knobs.( no in between ) For the price it does improve my sound. Took some fidgeting to get the bass guitars correctly sounding left it with 4 stars based on sound output quality. I did distord at full volume also.
