C Programming in One Hour a Day, Sams Teach Yourself

Best secondary book for C
This is a great secondary book for C, I read C programming absolute beginners guide as my first, and this is the book I bought next. It's larger than most C programming book, it's about 800 pages in size, most C books are 200~500. This has ALOT of stuff crammed into it. Also alot of concepts, not just syntax. It shows you how to use the preprocessor, which can be VERY useful at times. Also shows all the ASCII characters which can be very interesting to to look up. I would not recommend it as a first C book because of how it covers alot of material. Overall though, GREAT book

Book For Those Wanting to Learn C Programming
If you are new to programming, or new to the C language, this book is great at giving you the basics and some intermediate skills in programming in C. I used to program in C back in the 70's and early 80's on UNIX, and bought this book to learn the new features since I last wrote a C program. As an Assembler programmer, this book does a good job at explaining the C language, and the numerous sample programs are key to learning. And the exercises/programs to write at the end of every chapter helps to reinforce your learning.

I am on the 111th page and its awesome. I had followed many other tutorials trying to understand just functions, but this book covers it more than. I have to say that I am hooked on this style of writing as it lays down everything in details. I am hooked on the style of writing and might have converted to Sams from Dummies. Sorry Dummies. This book is so well written, the details are amazing and the style is well suited for a beginner.

Great second Self-Learning Book and great Reference Book.
This book is a fantastic Reference Book as well as being a great Self-Learning book. This book is NOT for absolute beginners and I would recommend: "C Programming - Absolute Beginner's Guide" by Greg Perry and Dean Miller as a first step but I would see: "C Programming in One Hour a Day" as an absolutely essential second step. Even seasoned C programmers should have this book available 24/7 - mine is on my smartphone's Kindle. Strengths of "C Programming in One Hour a Day" are: Well written by obviously highly knowledgeable C experts, Well structured (sequence of subject matter), Very thorough and Great examples. Weaknesses of "C Programming in One Hour a Day" are: No help with getting an IDE (integrated development environment) up and running (well handled by Absolute Beginner's Guide), Assumes too much programming knowledge for absolute beginners and goes too deeply into the C language for absolute beginners and may scare them off. FINALLY: If I didn't already own "C Programming in One Hour a Day", I would go out and buy one immediately.

The only book needed to learn C
This is by far the most comprehensive book for learning the basics and even more complicated aspects of C. I have read through other books to learn C and they either remain too basic, or are poorly explained. I don't typically leave reviews, but this book was so helpful that I thought it deserved more reviews than it currently has. For the price and content, this is by far my top recommendation if trying to learn C.

Nice book for beginner
I have had a couple of different books for C and this is the best one. Its explanations and the way variables are named are very easy to understand, and the examples are very helpful. I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who is new to the C language.

Would recommend to beginners
This is the second book on C I've read to familiarize myself with the language. It's suitable for any beginners (including those who have experience in other languages, but none with C). I would recommend this book to any beginners. If you have absolutely zero experience with programming, take a look at http://www.amazon.com/Programming-Absolute-Beginners-Guide-Edition/dp/0789751984/ref=cm_cr-mr-title . It is a shorter and easier read although it misses out on a few topics.

Great book
I am happy with my purchase. I would not recommend this book to a beginner, though it is not dense in coverage it jumps in ways that may be detrimental and very discouraging for the novice. I took this up in college and wanted to re-learn things I have forgotten and in this scenario it is very good, Or maybe a programmer well versed in another language and paradigms.

Its 22 lessons are well organized.
Good book! I also like that fact that I purchased cheaper than the price printed on its cover.

Perfekt!
