The Art of Mixed Media Portraits: A How-To Guide with Jenny Manno Paperback – August 27, 2024

I'm so excited to write the first review on this book!!!!! Jenny Manno's work has always brought joy to me with her juicy colors, imaginative faces, pieces of ephemera, and awesome markings. So, when I heard that she had published this book, I ordered it as fast as I could. I was trying to look at each page one at a time, but I couldn't resist turning all the pages. Not disappointed!!!!!!! And even with the introduction of art supplies, which can often be a little boring, I learned many new techniques for ways to use the supplies that I had already purchased knowing that someday that I would figure out how to use them!!! Yet, if you don't have everything that she uses, she tells you to use what you got! WoW! The seven lessons are fabulous, with so many beautiful illustrations that don't leave you guessing how she got from point A to B!!! It feels like a private lesson that I will always have to look back on!!! Jenny encourages the reader/artist to follow "that inner whisper urging you to try something new" and to know "that there are no rules that can't be bent!" I can't wait to get out my paints, supplies, and ephemera, but the hardest thing is to choose which lesson to start first! Thanks so much Jenny Manno!!! ♥

If you are a beginner, or experienced and in need of a burst of inspiration, this book is for you!!! Such a gloriously colorful and informative guide, every page is straight to the point. Lessons are easy to follow and you will have the tools you need to create and make them your own. Enjoy your beautiful art journey with this talented artist!

This book is so well written. Lets you know who the artist is and her process. Lessons are clearly written with great illustrations !Very motivating to move outside your comfort zone!

I highly recommend this wonderful mixed media portrait guide by Jenny Manno. The photos are clear and colorful and the descriptions are easy to understand and show the artist/authors enthusiasm--I feel like she is rooting for me and encouraging me to experiment and have fun. I'm so happy I bought this book. I've attached a couple photo's of whimsical mixed media portraits I've done following Jenny Manno's tutorials and can't wait to dig in and create more! FIVE STARS all the way!

This is a wonderful addition to a library I was finished adding to! LOL… The cover grabbed me, the content intrigued me, the purchase inspires me to stretch way outside my comfort zone … within the hour I had a new journal started…. using products I have owned & collected dust for way too long.. thank you Jenny for such a beautiful contribution to the mixed media world!

Not what I was expecting. $30mis a lot for a book and the examples in the book is not $30 worth.
