Understanding Operating Systems

This is a great book that is interesting to read. It’s full of very useful information that gets to the nitty gritty of computer science. It’s not dumbed down and requires the readers full attention. I read this book every chance I get, even on my time off. Great book for building a foundation on understanding how a computer works.

Class I'm currently taking is using this and this will be aomething helpful in my career choice. The book was in really good shape, and price really fair.

I am an adjunct professor and this book is assigned reading for the operating systems class I teach. The book is very thorough and goes through all aspects of operating system that is needed for an undergraduate class. The book can often go pretty deep into topics at a level that may be a challenge for some lower level undergraduate students. I have some people taking the course as an elective and the deeper areas of the book are a struggle for those students. I ended up pulling out the key areas of each chapter and teaching to those rather than getting into the heavy details.

Product is exactly what I needed for next semester. Although Prime member, shipping was not as promised. In that case, why pay for Prime?
