Douk Audio VU3 PRO Dual Analog VU Meter, 2-Way Amplifier Switch, Speaker Selector, Amp Audio Switcher Box 2-IN-2-OUT with DB Panel Display

Very helpful for evaluating speakers, switching between two sets of speakers simplifies everything. Nice quality product. VU lights cool but a little bit complicated.

I was going to get the FOSI Audio version of this, but when I started hearing about the VU meter problem, I waited to see what Aiyma or Douk would do. I'm glad I did, as the VU meters dance easily, even on a low-sensitive setting. The binding posts are good and the whole unit feels premium. I didn't notice any added noise to my chain (Schiit Loki + IFI Zen Phono stage + Emotiva TA-1), but maybe in a more expensive setup, it might add something. Switching between amps and speakers is easy and the remote is very good. The VUs can adjust colors (which you can do with the remote) from a pale yellow to red and green and you can adjust the brightness, too. All in all, a fun item that you can use just on it's own because of the very sensitive mic that makes the VUs go even if not hooked into your chain.

I looked at this unit and could not find any details on how to hook this up. It's pretty straightforward for the speakers, but what about the amplifiers? The VU3 has the same speaker binding posts for the A/B amp switching, BUT, what about the RCA jacks on the amp for 'main-in'? This provides the signal to the amplifier from your preamp or receiver pre-out jacks. The VU3 does not have any RCA jacks on it.If you have another preamp or double main out jacks on your existing unit this is not a problem, if not, you would need to unplug the RCA cable from one amp and then plug it into the other one or have other switching capability.Other than this quirk, the unit is well packaged, works well, and performs as advertised. The meters are big and pleasing to watch, I did however, find that it does not provide the deeper blue color that I had wanted.

I sold audio in the early 1980s. Really nice VU meters were on all of the high-end amplifiers. At that time, I could never afford those fancy amplifiers. As audio manufacturers, (and audio customers), no longer see the value in VU meters, VU meters have fallen away from customer desirably. Pity! I added the Douk Audio VU3 PRO Dual Analog VU Meter for purely nostalgic reasons. I really like these VU meters.

I’m being generous with 2 stars because in general, Douk audio makes good equipment.This is not one of them. The meters do not move unless you turn up the volume really high to get them moving then they will register until another track starts.Doesn’t matter how you set the gain or sensitivity. If you don’t crank the volume first, it will not register.Sorry Douk. Still love you, but not this product.

Was initially reluctant as I did not want to degrade or "color" the signal chain. It is completely transparent - no noticeable change in sound. So, I run two separate set-ups, 1 vintage, 1 modern. All run to 1 set of speakers. The ease of moving to one set-up to another is a breeze.Great purchase.

The media could not be loaded. The very first Speaker switcher I bought was the one little bear and it failed after 18 months obviously can't send it back because the return time has expired. The second one will freeze up when I use the remote and have to unplug it from the wall and plug it back in. It's done at several times so I'll be returning it. This is the second product from this company that has either quit working or malfunctioned. It's too bad because they're super cool switchers and it's perfect for somebody that wants to go between an AV receiver and a two channel audio receiver. I'm going to send it back but since I've had two failures with this brand name I'm not sure if I'll buy another one or not. Next time it hangs up and locks I'll revise my review with a video
