Smart and effective butterbell crock
I really like these butterbells, having first come across them in France. They are a great way of keeping butter cool and fresh, without having it go hard as it does if you put it in the fridge. The idea is that you fill the 'bell' cup in the top with your butter, then invert that in the lower crock that has some cold water in it. This keeps flies off; prevents exposure of the butter to air, keeping it fresh, and through the water keeps it cool. It only holds about 3/4 cup or 180g of butter so it won't store a full pack; and may not be enough for a large number of people who want to slather butter on their toast or baked potatoes. For day-to day use for one or two people,it's great. This crock is beautifully made of thick, heavy, cobalt-blue pottery with a glossy glaze, and is easy to fill, use and wash. Ive used these with regular butter, but decided to test It out with some softer spreadable Lurpack. In our current hot weather, I've been finding the Lurpack is going too soft out of the fridge, but is too hard kept in the fridge. I allowed it to soften enough that I could easily fill the cup, then put that in the fridge to harden a bit before inverting it in some cool water. I put it in a shady place in my kitchen, figuring placing it where it would be in sunlight really wouldn't be fair! Several hours later, the butter was just perfect: cool but soft and spreadble, without having over-softened. The water in the crock seemed to stay cool too, despite it being a very hot day. Definitely recommend!

Well made holds loads of butter and keeps it soft and away from the air!
I have wanted one of these for ages, as i love proper butter rather than the soft "spreads"With a bit of water in the bottom of the bowl part the butter is kept sealed away from the air and at room temp so super easy to spread or spoon out for cooking!I got 2/3 of a 250G block of butter into mine, this seems the same as claimed on the listing. The ceramic is all good quality and there were no marks or imperfections. The only strange bit is that it looks like the handle is off centre to the bell part, although i have not measured it to check it really doesn't bother me or affect the use in any way!

No acorde con la descripción del producto
Compré la encimera justo porque indica que tiene una linea de agua, lo cuál no la tiene. Esto me decepcionó mucho por lo cual no recomiendo el producto

Nice Butter crock, but takes a little getting used to.
I needed a new butter dish for my kitchen. Having always used the dish with a lid. I saw these and decided I’d like to try them out. Lid the lid does hold about a stick and a half of butter as stated. There is no line showing you where to fill the water to. It took some Experimentation, And a lot of spilled water to find the correct level. I do like the way it stores my butter, keeping it fresh and ready to go. The butter stays nice and cool inside the heavy crock and does not show that deterioration On the butter that you sometimes see on the dish ones. All in all I would say this is a good product, The only thing I don’t like is the fact that it did not come with the recommended water line as advertised.

Works great
I was skeptical about these water seal counter butter dishes, but I'm now a fan. The key to using this is to use room temperature butter and press it into the cup. Fill the base with a little bit of water and place it upside don so the serving part is sealed against the water. Just be sure to change the water every few days.I now love having soft butter on the counter, whenever I need it... so convenient. The only issue I have with this unit is there is no line in the cup to mark where the water level should be. I just tried a few times until I found how much to put in... just enough for the water to make contact with a little extra seems to work.

No Water Line as described
Overall, I like the shape and size. However, there is no "black water line" on the inside of the vessel as described.
