The one to get
If you have an insinkerator disposal, this is the one to get. It costs more, but it is worth it. I had purchased one of those stopper/strainers with the push button stoppers that was spring activated. It was a very light weight plastic that was plated to appear it was stainless. I could tell it would not last long. Particularly the spring action with a catch on the plastic to keep it engaged and the silicone stoppers would wear out. The other problem with those stoppers is there is a slight rise in the "stainless" trim which does not allow all of the water in the sink to go into the drain. The insinkerator stopper is recessed down into the disposal neck insuring all water drains. It does not have a strainer which might be a concern to some, but it will catch larger pieces of debris and utensils. Removing it to allow debris to go into the disposal is easy. It is a much better product with no springs to eventually rust out like those mentioned above.

Perfect Fit, but Plastic
This looks like sturdy metal, until you lift it and find out how light it is. It does the job of firmly stopping water or twisting the top to let liquid through and protect the disposal from items falling in.

New Sink, New Disposer
Needed something to keep unwanted stuff from straying down into my disposal and maintain the look of my new sink. Also needed to be able to close off the single drain to fill the sink. This was exactly what I was looking for.

save your disposal from damage
ive been wanting this for many years but the price was like 50 dollars and im just not one to waste money that way. I finally got to put it to the test i have a 22x33 full open sink. I had my entire sink filled with dishes and silverware and i just partially washed and transferred it all to the dishwasher. this kept anything from falling in the disposal so i dont have to put my hand down in there anymore its a real nice piece and works wonderfully. my only downfall to it is that as it sits propped up it sits at an angle due to how it was designed. not a big deal though. I am going to have to guess this will not only save my silverware but also might help to prolong the life of my insinkerator. Ive had to change my insinkerator 4 times in about 11 years now im onto year 14 and probably due for another soon. i did learn about putting ice down there to clean it which also prolongs it so that might hopefully help too.

Looks great and works perfectly! STP-DS Dual-position Stopper, Polished Stainless Steel
The sink in our new home did not come with a stopper, and after two generic stoppers purchased at hardware stores were too small for our InSinkErator drain, the search on Amazon began! Since the stoppers in this listing stated that they were by InSinkErator, I hoped that meant they would actually fit. I purchased the plain black, and the STP-DS Silver Saver Sink Stopper, Polished Stainless Steel, and both fit perfectly and seal tightly to fill the sink.I love the stainless dual-position stopper (STP-DS)! Our sink has a single drain with a disposal, and this stopper looks great and grips tightly in place, yet is easily removed when needed. I love that I can leave it in place all of the time, just pulling up the silver part of the stopper and slightly twisting to the open position. Water and smaller food can go down the drain to the disposal, but large items (like spoons!) are kept out. I can run my disposal with the stopper in the open position, and a quick twist allows the stopper to close to fill the sink for dishwashing. Brilliant! It was expensive (I know, it's just a sink stopper, right?), but I must say that for me it is worth it for the good looks and convenience of use, and since it stays in the drain, not having to find a place to put the stopper when not in use. I only wish that the silver top part of the stopper would stay perfectly straight when in the open position, as it tips slightly to the side (not enough to remove a star!).I wasn't sure how the stainless stopper was going to work out, so I had also ordered the plain black stopper (STP-PL Plastic Sink Stopper, Black). It's a basic stopper like I am used to having, made of hard plastic with a rubbery feeling seal that grips tight. I kept it as a back-up.
