Braking Power of the Gods
Got a very nice full suspension bike for a good price, and part of that good price was cheap brakes. Did my usual too-much research, decided on these Magura’s and Oh My Gosh. I’m a big guy, so more brake is better, and this is a LOT of brake. Two pistons and a big pad clamp like a vice and don’t let go. We’ve got a great downhill park in our area and even on the longest twistiest switchback section there is zero fade and easy modulation with minimal finger pressure. Installation was a breeze, but I did take it to the shop to get the hoses shortened (Rode with them zip-tied for a year, lol). I couldn’t be happier with these, thanks Magura!

Not the quality I expected.
These brakes came in looking like they were in good shape. Trimmed and Installed the rear brake with no issues. Trimmed and installed the front brake and after a couple months I realized it was losing pressure. I separated the brake line from the master cylinder and realized that the threads inside of the lever had been chewed up. I tried to screw the line into the cylinder but it kept getting worse. When I looked up issues with Magura MT7 brakes having issues with losing pressure, I realized several people were having issues with the threads getting stripped. Several complaints pointed out that the part of the hydraulic line that threads into the reservoir has a defective section on the male side that scratches the female area of the thread. When I inspected my line it had that issue. I contacted Magura and they basically blew me off. I personally cannot recommend a company that charges you almost $500 for a set of brakes and won’t at least send you the part that could fix your bike…

Takes some adjustment
Took some adjustments after first ride and a second bleed, but once it was realigned, it’s a great brake and a big improvement over the Stock SRAM Code R brake. Codes probably work well on smaller hills, but with the Cascade Mountains and a 50 lb eMTB, these seem to work well on extended descents.

Well made
You pay for quality and this is a good brake. And the company has good service.

Easy install, huge upgrade over stock disc brakes
Bought this as an upgrade to the stock brakes on my Specialized Camber Comp Pro 29". The Formula C1 were always basic disc brakes and I knew there were much better options out there. After reading various reviews I decided to go with the Magura MT7 Pro disc brakes with the matching rotors. If you follow the YouTube instructions on how to install without having to bleed it will go super smooth. Make sure you take your time and are working in an area where if you drop something you can quickly find it. Make sure you have all the parts you need if your factory brakes and shifters are integrated. I was able to use the existing caliper adapter on the Maguras so that saved a little money. Once I switched out the rotor and the brakes I took it around the block for a quick spin. I can say just right off the bat they are a huge upgrade. They have a better feel to them and definitely have stopping power. Can't wait to break them in a little more before I hit the local trails. So far they feel like a great investmement.
