Great little motor
I replace a briggs and stratton motor on a 20" push mower, using the one tapped hole and enclosed bolt, then tapped two other holes 3/8" x 16 to reuse original mounting bolts. i removed keyway that was on the shaft and old blade adapter and bolt worked perfectly. The original brake cable fit and worked perfectly. I bought an $8 throttle cable and installed it to complete the switch over. The engine holds 1/2 qt of engine oil. When checking oil using dipstick, be sure to read instructions. You check engine oil with the dipstick without screwing it into the engine. I filled with gas, pushed primer button twice, and engine started effortlessly with first pull and runs smooth and quiet. It has much more power than the briggs motor I removed. After running engine for 5 minutes or so, I changed the oil. Note you must flip mower upside down to drain oil, there is no drain plug. So far I am very impressed with this little motor.

Go ahead, do it, not sorry.
I am not a mechanic, but a hospital pharmacist, however I like machines and I like to buy something and have it last, and last, and last. My old Wrangler Rubicon has 200 M on it and runs like a kitten purr still...it may be my last car. My old Badger rototiller engine gave out after years of use. Should I let go of $600 for a new one or try a new engine?....that is always a gamble. I bought this Bilt Hard....it fit the rototiller after a few new frame attachment holes and a 5/8 inch pulley since my old one was 3/4. I had to fool around with this since I put too much oil in and also fouled my carburetor by turning the engine upside down. But I figured that out and blew out the carb and it runs great and has the power to till my garden. It took a little work, if yours is a straight replacement it will be easy. It runs perfectly for me.

Replaced Troy Bilt tiller motor
I replaced a 2007 Tecumseh motor on my tiller. Installation was a breeze. The output shaft is approximately 1/2 inch longer than the original which caused some minor adjustments to get the geometry back on the belts. Anything that was needed is readily available at TS. The motor stars easily and has more power than the original. Time will tell on the longevity, but so far I couldn't be happier.

Good value
I purchased this engine for a couple reasons.1. The price was the same as the more popular 6.5 hp engine that starts with a P.2. I wanted to see if it was better balanced than the P. engine. It is!I have two of the other engines and both vibrate badly. One is on a generator and the other is on a minibike. If you're into foot and hand massage then go with the P. engine. This one beats it hands down and has enough power to take my 220 lbs and my son's 250 lbs up hills and back roads without any trouble.

Easy
Arrived undamaged. Packaged well. I needed to purchase 2 mounting nuts and bolts. All existing cables fit. Added gas and oil. Started right up. Very quiet also.

Awesome purchase
It was either spend $250+ or buy this for half the price. Only trouble I had was the two cables you needed which I had none of them but two bicycle brake lines later and rigged them together for the length. Runs great.

The little engine that could!
So, I just bought a second one of these engines. I waited until I had an entire season of mowing on the first one before I wrote a review. I can now say it starts and runs just as good as it did 7 months ago.I have an old MTD Professional push mower with a stainless steel deck and after 25 years the original Honda engine was done. I couldn't imagine tossing the shiny old MTD. That stainless deck is worth more than an entire new mower, so I gambled on one of these Bilt-Hard engines. I read enough other reviews to have a new ⅞" blade adapter, throttle cable, and tap set ready. Properly prepared, the motor swap took less than an hour and it started on the first pull. The fuel economy and power are impressive. I have ⅓ acre and can usually mow it twice on a tank of gas with the engine barely at half throttle. This is the first time I've been able to mow the denser parts of my lawn with any mower without it stalling or bogging down. The second engine I installed on an old self-propelled mower. That took marginally longer, but the second one also started on the first pull and at full throttle and I have to run to keep up with it. This 4.4hp engine feels much stronger than the nameplate suggests. My self-propelled mower had a 7hp engine and there isn't the slightest indication that the mower is underpowered with the 4.4hp.I have two bits of advice for anyone buying one of these. First, and this is good advice for any new small engine. Change the oil after each of the first 2 or three runs, I did find some small debris in the oil after the first change. Second is that this engine needs the blade brake and ignition shutdown lever fully engaged. If your cable is old and stretched, you might find it stalling out or hard to start. The cables on both of my mowers needed adjustment.
