Basic E-Reader but not bad at all with a wonderful costumer service provided by kobo & Brownstem.
I recently purchased the kobo wireless e-reader from Brownstem through Amazon and I'm happy with it.I don't have much experience dealing with e-readers,but I'm learning.I now own two E-readers the kobo and another one I bought a while ago.The kobo was much more complicated to use and to get it to work was a little tricky comparing to my old E-reader. However, once you learn the how, everything becomes easy. And you can rely on the Kobo Customer Care for all the learning and the help you need. And in my case,I relied on the help of the Brownstem team as well with more than one matter.I received my kobo From Brownstem fast and even before the shipping set date. The package was sealed the E-reader was new. However, when I tried to set it and to make it work something was wrong. The kobo kept freezing and although I followed all the steps mentioned in the paper guide I never got the installers folder and the Kobo desktop application they were talking about. Moreover, the library was empty,no user guide as well as no e-books.An e-mail to the kobo customer care team solved all my problems.I was told that the kobo is usually empty. It has nothing on it.(unlike my old E-reader which had everything on it). You'll only get the user guide along with the e-books when you download the kobo desktop application and you log on to your kobo account.I downloaded the desktop application from the kobo site but it didn't work. So,then I was advised to Reset my kobo. After just doing that everything worked perfectly fine,no more freezing and I got all the missing stuff. The kobo is a simple, basic E-reader which does perfectly what it is designed to do.It's just for Reading. It's not a tablet and it is definitely not as sophisticated as a Samsung Tab.In my opinion it's a great E-reader especially for its price. It is small, light and easy to carry everywhere.I love the fact that I can use it to read outdoors in the daylight. It has access to 100 classics as a starter. The wifi is a good thing. And its battery life is great. No worries about charging it for a few days.I think it is a decent little E- reader if what you need is just to read anywhere without battery worries. At last,I would like to thank kamila from the kobo costumer team and Scott from Brownstem for their infinite help, assistance and patience.Kamila and Scott provided a prompt and courteous service. Both kobo and Brownstem have an excellent and great customer care service.Thank you kamila for your help. And thank you Scott for your kindness and generosity not only for giving me solutions to the product problems but for all the tips, info and advice you provided especially when knowing that you didn't have to.I'm glad I chose your company to buy my kobo from.

Needs too many charges
I have a nook and an iPad but i like to read at the pool. Neither of these allow me to do this in the sunshine so a friend at the pool recommended the kobo reader. Although very affordable I THOUGHT it was touch screen and the small button to change screens or to turn pages is an annoyance and each day I try to use it after using for less than two hours it requires my computer to charge it back so Ivan read again. The user manual says battery life is ten hours. Iturn it off when I am not reading but still must charge it to get two hours of reading time. Guess I will save my money and get a kindle which has both the backlit screen and touch screen features.

Kobo e-reader-Black Wifi
I have wasted several hours trying to get the product to work, it has been unable to log into Wi-fi at several locations, unit freezes repeatedly, instructions are not very clear, company website is unintelligible and difficult to maneuver. Have never been able to find out where the 100 free books are that are promised with the purchase. Unable to download any books unable to log onto store. Tech Support is non existent. Software offered on company website does not work and sends you back onto the web to find a solution. I would recommend that you spend a little more money and purchase a real e-reader from somone else. This thing is a nightmare I am thinking of returning if I can not get it to work. Additionally, the company has dropped the price by about 30%. I wonder why?

Don't buy if you want to borrow library ebooks
To use this reader with the library you need to use adobe digital editions. There are a tonne of people having issues with adobe digital editions. I would suggest a fix soon or the ebook companies will be dropping adobe. It is really hard to recommend ereaders to people when it is impossible to download books on to them.I have tried all of the tips I have found online and not one has solved my problems.I get alternating messages of the content not being allowed and I have reached my limit of activations. My son spent 2 hours on the phone with kobo this morning and they had no idea how to fix it. I will likely be returning my kobo because this seems to be an issue with users for quite a while. It's probably why ereaders are dying already.

Not a bad ereader!
So I pretty much purchased this because I am a cheapskate and not interested in spending too much money on a device that I may or may not like. I like refurbished items as the price point is usually perfect and the quality of the devices I normally buy are like new. I can justify spending $37 bucks and taking a chance on an older refurbished ereader as my luck so far has been pretty good and haven't recieved any lemons to date. With that being said I did do a fair amount of research on this device before purchasing it. It is three years old and is not a touch screen. The speed of the device is acceptable(same as my gf's nook simple touch). I like how it has a SD card slot and not the micro SD's as I have a couple of older cards that haven't been used in a while. The dimensions and weight of the device I find comfortable and the screen resolution is actually better than I expected. When I first plugged it in I only gave it like 10 minutes to charge as I was eager to get to exploring the device. I immediately noticed that the screen seemed to be very light and a bit washed out looking making it difficult to read. At this point I thought I may have recieved a bad product but thought, 'Maybe its due to the batter life.'. I was right, it just needed a full charge and the white washed appearance disappeared. Just wanted to mention that because I found it to be a bit weird. I am giving it 4 stars because it doesn't have as many options for screen brightness, fonts, sizing.. ect. It is a very basic and affordable ereader. If it dies on my after a year or two of usage it will be, in my opinion, worth the little amount of money invested.

I particularly like the long battery life
Works exactly as I expected. I particularly like the long battery life. It's a bare bones model, very simple but it does the job.

wasn't paying attention
I didn't realize it was not back light, but you get what you pay for and it was a great price anyway.

Bought to replace an old one.
Bought this to replace my old one which I dropped. Chose it because I know how to load books and didn't want to learn a new system. I like a button to turn pages as I can do it whilst holding the book with one hand.
