Stuffed Moroccan Pouf, Pouffe, Ottoman, Poof, Color : Brown

Well, I was hesitant to buy because some reviews said it reeked and it definitely does. Maybe certain colors smell worse (I got brown). I unwrapped the pouf and my dog was immediately by my side because it smells like rawhide or goat. She thought it was a new chew toy. I immediately put it outside. I'm hoping the smell dissipates but if it doesn't, i'm returning it. On another note, it isn't as round looking as the picture, the top is rather flat, otherwise the color is the same beautiful brown as the photo with quite a bit of natural variation and really nice stitching. However, the bottom side of the poof appears to be a different quality leather and there is a lot of discoloration- (almost looked like mold - i wiped it down with a light vinegar spray and removed the spots) it makes me question how the leather was cured.... I know there is a distinct smell to cow leather and maybe i'm not used to goat leather but this smell is definitely not as pleasant. If it didn't smell, I'd give it 5 stars.

Pros:- Very well represented color in photos on Amazon- Nice size for squatting (I use it to get down to my 18 month old's level without having to be on the floor)Cons:- the leather is kind of slippery so it's hard to grab hold of as well as sit on.- It is filled with what appears to be recycled chunks of foam (foam like you would find in the seat cushion of a sofa but torn in little pieces)...not the old school tiny little styrofoam balls like i remember bean bags had when i was a kid. Therefore although the foam is cut up, it doesn't really "displace" or squish in when you sit on it. because of that it is always a bit unstable. It's as if instead of sitting on a bag of sand, you are sitting on a deflated basketball that always has the potential to roll you off to one side or the other.

We bought our original Moroccan Pouf 40 years ago in Tangier, Morocco (may I say, for a lot less money, but that's to be expected). We had to stuff it ourselves and it lasted pretty good for the first 39 of those years until the leather dried out and flaked. I was surprised to see you could actually still buy one of these. We took the plunge and were pleasantly surprised that it is so nice. It's a nice shape, nice quality leather, stitching and color. It's very light, stuff with foam, I guess, compared to the former pouf that we stuff with old towels. Lighter is better for moving it around. My foot doesn't sink down in it like the other, but that's no problem. I like the height. Good buy.

I bought this pouf for my daughter's nursery. When it arrived and was unpacked, it was immediately clear that it was unusable. The smell was absolutely terrible and did not dissipate over a matter of weeks as promised by the seller. I contacted the seller to return per their policy and it was a trial just getting them to send me a return label through Amazon. Once the return was finally processed, I left Seller feedback saying the same comments above "the pouf smelled terrible". Not only did the seller then email me to demand that I take down that feedback, they proceeded to call me on my cell phone at 8AM in the morning and email me 3 more times to harass me. I did take my feedback down but am posting the same story here to warn others of their unprofessionalism.

The quality of the leather was very nice and there was no bad leather odor. The stitching looked well done and durable. The color and quality was as stated. The only problem was the size; it was too small for sitting on by adults, although my 4 year old loved the size! I returned these (bought 2) with no problems from the seller. The seller was very courteous and allowed me to return them.

Has a zipper on the bottom, which can scratch your floor, if you have wood floors.

I really like this pouf, but it was shorter than I was expecting. Doesn't really work as an ottoman with a standard size chair, but great for sitting on when you're playing with a child, or having a board game night, or something similar. Color was exactly as pictured, did not notice a smell about it at all.

After ordering a different version of this that came smelling rancid I was nervous to try again. This one is in great shape, doesn't have a funky smell and was pre-stuffed so I didn't have to worry about that part. For the price the stitching isn't as high quality as I had hoped but it's still a great piece.
